Twilight Princess for Gamecube vs. Wii

First post. Probably won't post here much, not gonna lie.

I'm aware there was a similar thread, but that one was about controls.

I am wondering if anybody feels that the Wii version is better because Nintendo mirrored the entire game to make Link right handed. I'm right handed, and I was wondering if anybody felt it actually made a difference in game.

Re: Twilight Princess for Gamecube vs. Wii

I prefer TP on the GC than on the Wii.

I love the use of button mashing and going back to the whole traditional controls than using the Wii remote. Plus controlling the camera was one of my favourite things which is gone for the Wii version.

I tend to be a lot more faster with accuracy when using the GC controllers than with the Wii remote.

Re: Twilight Princess for Gamecube vs. Wii

I prefer the Wii version it was fun to control Link's sword for the first time. I found cool how you use the bow in that version. But i always get confuse when i theorize about it because of the flip map.

If I recall correctly, the Wii version is considered non-canon. But that might be false.

That's all I know of in this discussion xD

I prefer the gamecube version.
And no, making Link right handed made no difference to me. If the controls were like Skyward Sword where it follows your motions, then it might make a difference. However, on TP you just shake the wii mote to hit stuff... you could use either hand and do just fine with swordplay. They really didn't need to mirror the game.

Gamecube version is better. Because Link is left-handed...

I prefer the gamecube version. Though I wish it could be rendered in 16:9

Re: Twilight Princess for Gamecube vs. Wii

While the controls have become somewhat antiquated by Skyward Sword, I still really dig the Wii version. Really, at this point, I've just become accustomed to the layout.

Re: Twilight Princess for Gamecube vs. Wii

While I've never played the GC version, I'd like to say that the Wii version was an interesting experience. It felt different aiming with your bow/ slingshot using the cursor and swinging my sword (even though I don't choose the direction of your strikes) felt like I was actually part of the experience.

Plus, you get the added bonus of holding 4 items at a time.

Hyrule and its cardinal directions are also correct on the gamecube version...

Re: Twilight Princess for Gamecube vs. Wii

I like the Gamecube version better. The Wii version is better for using your bow and arrows tho. I really like how they did that, but I like the Gamecube version for everything else more! Even though they aren't full 1:1 motion controls like SS, I still don't like the one's for TP. I'm more of a regular controller type of guy..

Re: Twilight Princess for Gamecube vs. Wii

Copy-pasta myself from a few years back:

Wii version:

- Two extra item slots (+)
- 16:9 aspect ratio (+)
- 480p resolution (+)
- Easier aiming for bow and arrow (+)
- Iron boots glitch (+)
- Sometimes faulty controls (-)
- Charge time for spin attack (-)
- Crappy Wiimote speaker that I had to actually turn off (-)
- Mirrored (-)

GC version:

- 480p only if you have older model GCs (+)
- More precise and responsive controls (+)
- Free camera control (+)
- Infinite spin attack (+)
- True, non-mirrored version (+)
- Two less item slots (-)
- No 16:9 aspect ratio (-)

Better on the Gamecube, but that might just tbe the opinion of an older gamer who HATES motion gaming. Handles really, really well on a traditional controller.

Re: Twilight Princess for Gamecube vs. Wii

I prefer Wii over GC because of the graphics. TP's graphics on the Wii just look so so so amazing.
