Oh yes, especially if you can play with a Gameboy Advance. It's an excellent addition to the Zelda franchise.

Yes, it's a fantastic game even on solo play. If you love A Link to the Past, you'll love Four Swords.

I will say it's even better with at least three people.

I'll be the dissenting voice and say no, and I can't recommend the game to anybody who doesn't have at least one GBA, Link Cable, and an extra friend lying around somewhere. It's very clear that the game was designed to be played by more than one player, much like the Four Swords that came before it, particularly when it comes to puzzles. I'm still confused as to why multiplayer required GBAs when the GCN controller worked almost as well.

It's worth playing through at least once, but don't expect anything better than any other Zelda game.

I'm pretty sure the multiplayer required GameBoy Advances because of the way the game was designed. When you go into a house, for example, the screen either shows up on the GameBoy Advance screen, or on the main screen with a frame around the house. The problem occurs when one person is inside and one is outside.

Because split-screen multiplayer is so completely unheard of.

Like I said, it was in the basic design of the game. I think the designers were either too lazy or didn't have the knowledge to implement split screen into what they had already programmed.

I'm guessing implementing split screen later in development would have been pretty difficult.

I played it solo and enjoyed it. However, it may be more fun if you play with others.

Re: Is the single player in Four swords adventures any good?

I hope nintendo does something like that with the 3DS and WiiU zelda... or one player can play with the 3DS and the other player (half way around the world) can verse him with his WiiU console. How cool would that be?

not cool at all. personally i thought it was obnoxious for nintendo to make FSA require everyone to have a gameboy advance to play the multiplayer. the gba-gamecube connectivity always just seemed to me like a manipulative scheme to make you buy a gba. i hope they don't pull the same thing with the wiiu because i don't care for portable consoles. if it's an option then cool but a 3DS or GBA shouldn't be required for multiplayer, ever.

No, i ment:

Normal 3DS multiplayer (like mariokart 7)
and as an extra:
3DS multiplayer with WiiU (similar to how the PS vita can connect to the ps3)

Re: Is the single player in Four swords adventures any good?

It's a pretty simple game really that brings back a lot of memories from ALttP. So of the "puzzles" in the game are pretty interesting Like finding the pearls in the village in the dark world (or whatever it was called). It is probably one of the least favorite zelda games for many because it is radically different, easy and it involved the four sword.

Oh, it's definitely fun. But I would recommend playing with others. Then you can have some competition. The end boss is also more challenging if you have more than one. Otherwise, he's kind of a push-over.

What I meant is that FS and FSA were different than other zelda games in the respect that they were linear and left little room for sidequests and exploration. The four sword story line is excellent but the gameplay of FS and FSA were different than the zelda norm.

I really enjoyed it, and it's still one of my favorite Zelda games to date! I will say though, the experience is much better if you can get your hands on a GBA and a cable to link it to the gamecube while playing.
