Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

I'd just like to bring up the fact that Nintendo seems to like making prequels--*coughSkyward Swordcough*. So, I'd agree that there are a bunch of complications with implementing the Twili in games following Twilight Princess, but who's not to say that Nintendo makes a game set before the Mirror of Twilight is broken? (Hehe, I'm imagining what a younger Zant and Midna would look like...)

The Twili don't even have to have an extremely major role in a future title to satisfy me. I just don't want Nintendo to be making up something awesome and forgetting about it.

On the subject of young Zant and Midna, I regret to say that this is unlikely. We've never had a prequel with the same characters as a successive game (except for villains).

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

Nintendo doesn't do prequels just because they want to, they do it because it's the only direction to go where people are less likely to complain. People ♥♥♥♥♥ when they see cameras, steamboats, and trains. The only way to keep Zelda within its time zone of canon-ness is to place it further in the past. This also explains their decision to use a time split, doing so allows them to create more Zelda games without having to worry about 2 or more events happening around the same time period with no knowledge of each other.

EDIT:
Something to think about, SS just introduced another timesplit by sending Zelda to the past, this pretty much gives them the opportunity to make another 20 Zelda games that don't have any place on the current timeline.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

I would be sur[prised if Nintendo did add her back in, but i don't think I would object... I have been surprised by these games in the past, which can only mean more for the future.. who's to say that it's impossible? Midna and the Twilight realm may be out of the realm of Hyrule, but not out of the realm of possibility.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

I'm curious as to what Midna might look like when (not if) she comes back. Everyone was a dick about TP's graphics, and Nintendo might try to play it safe using another graphics style. She might look completely different.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

I'm not sure if I want another appearance of Midna, but definitely of another sidekick with a character as deep as Midna. I don't know why they went back to Fi, you can't get anymore soulless than that, an android-like AI.

Master, you appear to be low on health, I estimate a 98% chance that I'm pissing you off with my beeping, and that you should drink a potion to shut me up.

I got a bit pissy here and went rambling off topic, luckily I caught myself and put spoiler tags around it so you don't have to see it
To be honest, I'd take TP (GC version) over SS anyday. It was a lot more canonical and realistic. Despite what every other Zelda fan on the planet thinks, I loved the graphics. Throw in a flirty sidekick, snowboarding, awesome sword skills, lure fishing / canoeing, a truly insane badguy, and a whole nother dimension and you've made me one happy Zelda fan. Sure there were some areas that needed work like the lack of sidequests, how they squeezed in Ganondorf, and the wolf controls, but generally it was a great game that I would love to see sequel to.

But as it stands, every person who goes to a Zelda forum, regardless of whether they like it or not, does nothing but complain about TP in an effort to fit in or to steer away from getting trolled. The sad thing is, most of the people that ♥♥♥♥♥ about certain Zelda games have never played them. They'll google a few things about the game that make it seem like they did, and when they actually play it they either change sides or avoid those topics altogether.

I'm know I'm nagging and kinda rambling off topic, but dammit people have ruined the reputation of some very great games doing this and then have the nerve to complain about the most minute details. Most of their complaints aren't even personal, they're just copying the bs someone else posted like they're gonna get immortality from a few likes.

You can look in any topic I've ever posted in, and you'll see I'm always the center of hate for not conforming to the views of the majority. Sometimes it takes a few people with the balls to have a mind of their own for a goal to be accomplished.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

While I loved Midna as a character, what with all her snarky remarks, I don't think she would show up in a guide capacity. Maybe as a major NPC, like Illia somewhat was.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

I'd love to see her again. She was a very likable character, and it'd be interesting in regard to her powers now that she's back in her true form. Midna > zelda > all of the other stupid girls in the franchise.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

Anyone else wonder what happened to that mask? Yeah, I know Ganondorf crushed one of the pieces in his hand, but I don't think anyone's just gonna leave it there, crumbled or not. If Midna took that back with her to the Twilight Realm, it could be possible for it to corrupt the Twilight Realm and send Link off on another adventure.

Just saying.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

I would love to see Midna again. She was a smart, sassy sidekick, and she had personality, which is a lot more than can be said about most Zelda characters. The end of SS left me emotionally untouched, but TP's ending was genuinely heartbreaking.

I don't expect Nintendo to ever bring her back, and I don't know how they'd do it if they did, but it sure would be nice if it did.

Then again, bringing her back would sort of ruin TP's gorgeous bittersweet ending, because the saddest part of the game is knowing that she's gone forever, and Link will never see her again.

You know, her very last words before entering the Twilight Realm were "Link... I... See you later", even when translated correctly from japanese they are "Link...s...see you". If she wasn't going to see him again, she would've said "goodbye", not "see you" or "see you later". That implies that she will make a return, and I'm pretty sure that's not something Nintendo would put there unless they actually intended to bring her back.

This.

Bringing her back will only ruin her story. I think it's safe to say that Nintendo are not going to bring her back, or the Twilight for that matter.

The story has been told, so it should be left behind.

That sounds like the most likely scenario. To feature her as Link's companion again might be asking for too much, though in my ideal fantasy world, I would make it so.

Now, that's the spirit! xD I've seen fan-made versions of her in what is, more or less, cel-shaded/Wind Waker form, and it's made me think about that prospect a bit. That's not totally out of the question either, since I don't think that a future Zelda game needs to adhere to a particular art style in order for Midna to return. I'd almost prefer that Ninty feature her in a different one, as her character design is one that lends itself to multiple interpretations.

I know what you mean. The scene in which Midna returns to the Twilight Realm is, for me personally, the most emotionally powerful moment from any work of fiction. Now, while I understand that restricting her to one game is what adds to the specialness of TP, I also just think that Nintendo did such a masterful job at creating this character, that not making her a prominent figure in future Zelda titles would be a wasted opportunity. The Twilight Realm itself is also deserving of more exploration.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

It'd be difficult to bring Midna back, but rather easy to bring the Twilight Realm back. Only 3 Zelda games have actually explored the "Dark Realm", so it's not really an overused idea. In my opinion TP's version is the most beautifully crafted. That is to say I'm implying that the Twilight Realm is the same as the Dark Realm, which may not be the case, but regardless it's unexplored territory with a lot of potential.

I've always imagined the Twilight Realm as the complete antithesis of the normal world, where islands sit on the skys instead of the seas, rivers flow uphill instead of downhill, caves are bright, and open surroundings are dark. Most people might say the Twilight Realm's gloomy appearance reflects the end of the world, but for me just looking at it gives me the impulse to make a game expanding upon it, strangely making it feel unfinished, more like a beginning than an end.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

Absolutely. Not to mention the fact that there's already a fair bit of mythology attached to the Twilight Realm. According to Midna, the world even has its own deities. I know that this is a pipe dream, but it would just be so fitting to have a Legend of Midna spin-off series set in the Twilight Realm.

Re: Do you want to see Midna again?

I'd like to point out that there is presumably little input from the 'real world' into the twilight realm, except for the banishing of a few big baddies. This means that Zant's usurption would still go ahead without Ganon's aid, but it would fail when the populace did not accept him.

Esdsentially, this means that Midna can reappear in other timleines. It's still sad if TP Link never sees her again, we can see her as much as Nintendo want.

I'm not one of the people who hate on Midna but I don't see the point in using her in another story because her part of the legends been told. Although I wouldn't mind another game thats set in the Twilight Realm.

Give me Navi.
