Blood in a game is blood in a game.

If something in game is used to represent blood then.....it's blood. Same way a splatter of red pixels represents blood in GTA or Mortal Kombat. In game, it's still considered blood.

Re: Blood in The Wind Waker

I really don't care about the blood or replacement of, rather than the fact that it takes tons of hits directly to a moblin's head and he geta back up most of the time. I would feel cheated if I cut up an enemy and didn't see any physical signs of damage. I liked the fact that OoT and MM had enemies with different areas hit resulted in different damage, like hit the wolfos in the arms and not much happens, but hit his tail and its a one shot kill. granted, new games have enemies with weak spots but they are more of a "hit here or don't damage at all". Honestly, I think blood is completely acceptable in any 3d zelda, I mean if soldiers die in alleyways and people have swords shoved through their skulls, why not show the blood?

Re: Blood in The Wind Waker

Meh. Its not like there was outright blood like in a lot of games today.

And honestly I don't believe any Zelda game needs blood to make it good. Its all about the story and the puzzles.

I believe the shadow temple in OoT was enough for me.

Re: Blood in The Wind Waker

Too many people already make their judgments if a game is good or not about how much blood and guts come out when you cut something open. It's like shoot someone in the head and it explodes like a water balloon good game, not a drop of blood in the game even if it has a solid storyline and gameplay it's a kiddy game and is therefor stupid. Drives me crazy

But you know when your dealing damage to an enemy...like when your slicing ganon, he will yell and make noises...

I see it being blood, just not red and not gory at all...
It fits for me and i really dont care i just love to slice things :p

Re: Blood in The Wind Waker

I remember the N64 Turok games had an option for "blood" or "guts", "blood" was red while "guts" was just multicolored blobs of goo. I guess those blobs in Zelda would fall into the "guts" category.

Re: Blood in The Wind Waker

I don't think it was blood. the ESRB catches the smallest things, and if Nintendo wanted blood in Wind Waker, they would have used it a lot more often. Wind waker was meant to be flimsy, whimsical and fun. I personally have never noticed the "blood" you are noticing, and I've played wind waker at least 4 times all the way through. the other thing might be that there is a glitch in your game or something.

I also think it was just to show impact. Besides, with all the Call of Duty games and such today, we don't need anymore gory games with blood. Not that those games are bad, they just aren't my style.

There has been "blood" in Zelda since OoT.

If you hurt or kill a Deku baba (the very first enemy you attack), they spurt out green fluid which is classified as blood.

Re: Blood in The Wind Waker

Just as Eternal Legend said, there has been blood since Ocarina of Time. When Ganondorf is defeated (before he changes to Ganon), he coughs blood. In the earliest versions of the game, the blood was red. In later copies of Ocarina of Time, however, the blood was green.

Re: Blood in The Wind Waker

The blood is actually grape jelly. lol Just kidding but I think it might just be to represent damage and I don't see a big deal in blood. Link impaled Ganon's skull if that's not violent I don't know what is.

It probably was. For some reason, blood is never red in Zelda.

Like I said, the first copies of Ocarina of Time had red blood. I think Nintendo wanted Ocarina of Time, and Zelda as a franchise in general, to take a more moderate stance at violence. Sure, Link kills enemies, but it's not in a violent fashion, rather a tactical fashion.

The changed cartridges featured a few changes, one of them changing Ganondorf's red coughed blood to green.

Re: Blood in The Wind Waker

It's blood. They do this in every 3D Zelda game. Not with every enemy, but quite a few. It was more common with OoT and MM and less so with the newer games. If you look at the rating on the back of the case, it actually has it listed under "fantasy blood" something similar.
