Most of the temples in OoT were little more than boring puzzle minigames, while TP actually got smart and effective with its dungeons.
And how exactly does OoT have lore? I remember the Gossip Stones, certainly, but there was hardly any backstory or motivation in the game. The threat of Ganon destroying Hyrule was nonexistent, and people who served him actually profited (i.e. Ingo). And there was backstory that made you want to know more? Don't make me laugh at that ridicuolus concept. |
The threat of ganon ruling hyrule forever, keeping the land in utter darkness is one thing that drove me on to play it, And Ingo was a dick head character to begin with, so sure he'd sell out his partners and gain something, but other than that, I don't think other characters besides him benefited, and hell, he didn't even really benefit seeing as his prized horse got away, and he went insane from fear, and became nice. As with
TP I have defended it before, but I can say that after you take care of Lanayru's issue and the twilight is all dispersed, I no longer felt the urgency to hurry and do something. With
OoT from the minute I stepped out of The temple of time I felt like "Oh ♥♥♥♥ This place is really down the drain, and I should probably get to doing something about it"
Sure
OoT has some over glorified points, but it is the first game that really goes in depth the lore of Hyrules Religious practices. It's supposedly the story that caused the triforce to split in three, and going into depth about the chosen sages. In
TP They basically just re-stated everything
OoT already said, but added some more flashy cutscenes and a few more little tidbits, so it's not really that much more advanced. Sure we have the twili, but after that 30-40 minute adventure through their land, no one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about them anymore and forgets they even exist, seeing as there is no impeding issues with them either. The only urgency in
TP I felt was rescuing collin, and helping the Zora prince.
In
OoT we have the issues with The Kokiri. We learn of their exclusive Relationship with fairies, and the Deku tree. We have Lord Jabu jabu, we have the Gorons being explain a bit more, we have The Sheikah, we have the Gerudos being explained,
OoT was hardly lacking in the imagination department, and a lot of points have merit for double thought, I agree
TP has great lore additions, but In no way was
OoT flat and boring when it came to that either.
