Have you needed potions other than the red potion?

40 hours into the game--finishing the last series of song fetches. Never had to buy any potion but the red potion.

Has anyone here actually, seriously needed the other potions? I can sort of see the need for the stamina potion, but the parts that require stamina don't really seem challenging enough to need it.

You definitely need potions in Hero Mode.

I always carry that one that repairs the shield around, and always upgraded so it's used automatically.

Just in case something happens, I only got to lose 3 shields though, if I'm not wrong.

And I remember having a stamina potion in my pouch all the time since it was available, always with a mentality of "If I use it now, I won't have it when I really need it!" but I never got to need it

I didn't even touch the other potions.

I once bought a purple potion for myself, but I used it to heal some hearts instead. =P

I've only bought like 2 red potions so far (and a stamina potion for Fledge's muscle building lol).

i recall buying a lot of red potions before going into each temple and new area, but I never bothered using any of the other ones. never even knew what the guardian potion was for O_o

Carrying Stamina potions + potion medal are good for section speed running.

I used to buy the revitalizing potion to fix my shield but once I got the one that repairs I didn't need it.

The other potions could have probably helped me out in a few instances but I never thought they were a necessity.

I only ever needed the red potion. The rest that I bought were for others (like that kid (forgot his name) where he needed stamina potion to get stronger).

Other than that, I have never needed any other potion.

I used the purple one in the beginning upgraded before getting the goddess shield. Then I used the red ones. I can see the green being useful in the dessert, and only one part of the game would the blue be useful but not even needed.

All in all, the game was far to easy.

I usually carry a guardian potion and a few heart potions.

I was actually pissed off that all of those potions were there, but I never, EVER bought them or needed them for adventuring beyond the red one. Making Fledge stronger does not count, and only serves to make me angrier because I got the feeling that Nintendo KNEW all of those potions were bloody useless, so they put one in a quest.

On a side note, I only started upgrading potions when I got to the final boss. Lame!

Red Potion: Bought 10 times and upgraded 3 times. Very useful.
Purple Potion: Bought once at the beginning of the game. Never needed it again.
Pinky Glowy Potion: Aiuoheugh? I guess it would be good for Hero Mode/Boss Rush/Hero Mode Boss Rush, but it's really expensive.
Green Potion: Bought twice, both for Fledge's quest. Never used them on Link.
Blue Potion: The ♥♥♥♥ Nintendo. You put BUBBLES EVERYWHERE ANYWAY. ♥♥♥♥. And then when that event is gone guess what? No more need for the damn thing if there was even a need in the first place.

I like using stamina potion when I'm trolling for Rupees/treasure.

I never needed the shield, let alone a potion.

I've yet to play Hero mode, but I imagine if I actually used the shield, I wouldn't have any problem fending off enemies.

Never needed a single potion... Fairies all the way.

I use a whole whack of heart potions the only time I needed another potion which is the Gaurdian potion was to fight Demise but you need to upgrade that potion Other then that the rest of the potions are useless

I hardly ever even used heart potions in my first playthrough. I was carrying around the same bottle of heart potion from Lanayru Mining Facility up to, like, Skykeep, I think. On hero Mode, though, I'm using plenty and upgrading them to the max.

As for the other potions, never. I used the freebie shield repairing potion you get in the Sealed Temple, of course, but that was for the four hearts of healing.

Just about to go into the 5th temple and have only needed red potions so far...

However I know a lot of littleuns (8-12 years) playing it that are fond of invincible potions so I guess your potion use depends on if your a Zelda geek or a casual gamer/kid.

I bought green for the side quest. In my first quest I bought the potion to heal shield and health, but now I can upgrade my shields so easily I do not bother with it.
I'm going to buy the other potions late in the game to have a little fun with them.

I'm glad we have a super potion instead of magic armor though. Those things are way too powerful.

I used Red Potions lots and lots of times. Occasionally, I would carry a Shield Potion, and had to use a couple early on. But once I got a better handle on the Shield Bash, and especially once I acquired the Sacred Shield, I stopped buying them.

I've found that Stamina Potions are really helpful in two specific locations -

1. Any area with sinking sand, especially that first run through Lanayru Desert.

2. The second and third fight with The Imprisoned. They're far from necessary, but it's easy to drain your stamina as you chase after his feet, and if you find yourself getting clocked by his shockwaves often

It was nice to have Potions actually be useful in this game!
