Skyward Sword Fandubs

I'm not fully set on VA in Zelda, unless it's Hylian, but from these voicedubs I can see that VA enhances the cinematics, and with better talent and resources, could end up being done very well.

Even though this is just a fandub, this basically shows how VA in Zelda would be, and I don't like it. It ruins it for me.

EDIT: Only watched the first one since I passed that part of the game already. So I don't know about the second one, yet.

I usually despise fandubs, but these two were actually well done. The first was decent, and I actually felt little emotional as Zelda went to sleep, unlike in the game where I had more of an indifferent feeling. And that one with Demise was just... awesome. I mean, I actually got chills by the end of the video and I feel that having a voice has actually made Demise intimidating. That is exactly how I imagined Demise would sound.

The second is a lot better.

Zelda's main issue is that the person isn't emoting well.

The second one was great!!!! I mean...I still can't see VA in Zelda, but that fandub was a good example of what it could be like, and it isn't TOO terrifying of an idea.

Yeesh, that is some corny, self aware acting. Not awful for a fandub, though, A for effort.

As for official VA in Zelda games, I'm for it. The presence of spoken lines didn't bother me in this, it was just delivery. I know official VA could be just dreadful, but I trust that Nintendo learned from SMS and won't try voice acting unless they've got a good reason and can hire a good VA crew.

Ugh, It just sounds so awkward. I don't know what it is, but because every Zelda game feels familiar, to start having voice acting now would just seem weird.

Did NOT like Zelda. At all. So... nasally and bland. DX<

However, Demise felt much more natural.

I still want Hylian VA like Fi and Midna.

I love how Demise's face looks stoic with all the angry shouting.

The one with Demise is a lot better. But I still prefer no VA. I liked the voice I gave him in my mind better.

First one, do not like.

Demise on the other hand is kind of cool.

I don't like it.
EVERY time I see a fan dub I think "This is not the way I read it" the delivery is totally off. They put the emphasis at the wrong places every time.

That's why I hate fandubs. Everyone reads dialogue differently, and what I imagine a character to sound like is almost never how others do.

For instance, this fandub of the first scene with Ghirahim:



It's not particularily BAD...but it's absolutely nothing how I imagine Ghirahim's voice to sound like. He sounds too much like a "feminine villain/British fop" if you get what I mean. I imagined Ghirahim's voice to be, well...sexier and threatening.

The only fandub I thought was reasonably good was one posted here a year or two ago. I think it was the scene where Ganondorf and Midna meet, or something like that.

Ghirahim would be really difficult character to find a suitable voice for. He needs to sound gentlemanly, arrogant, suave, threatening and funny. All while staying consistent.

But I guess props to whoever did the dub for not going stereotypical gay.

Hmm...seee the thinngggg is that I thoroughly enjoy watching these fan dubs!! I think they're so cooooll and make it epic!!!! Waah sooo cool

But...

I dunno if I could tolerate it the whole game. O.o The short scenes are fine...but i dunno. Bleh I dunno. I guess if they decided to do VA I wouldn't vehemently object but I think it's totally fine the way it is...

I actually don't know whether I'd like the Hylian VA thing, for EVERYONE. I think that would be weird. Idk, I think Midna/Fi type people are enough for that. Just my opinion though.
