Is Wind Waker the first console game to use cloth physics?

Everyone has noticed that in Wind Waker, clothing is affected by the wind in a realistic manner. I can't recall any other game that uses cloth physics released before Wind Waker. Are there any?

Majora's Mask has cloth physics, just not as much as Wind Waker.

When Link is walking the only noticeable thing is the bottom of his shirt moving, but during some scenes like when he's falling or holding onto epona you can see his hat moving.

Deku Link's hat has more movement but looks harder, not counting when he spins.

Zora Link doesn't really have a hat, but his head waves a little when he swims.

Oh, I do remember Link's hat when he's falling. I didn't count Zora Link's "hat" since I count that more like his head lol

Good catch ^^

Pretty sure that's just animated in the same way as any other part of his body, and not actual physics.

It surely looks stiff when it moves.

There were fluid physic wind movements such as Ganondorf's cape in OoT when you battled him before Hyrule Castle collapses.

Although they were not as obvious as in tWW, it appeared as early as Zelda's first 3D game.

If I remember correctly, in the prologue level of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (released 2001), the "tail" of Solid Snake's bandana moves in the direction of the wind whenever he's outside.

I'll have to replay the game to verify that though.
