Re: Skyward Sword Graphics

If the art style was exactly the same then it would have to be TPver2 a new art style brings a whole new game.

Majoras Mask used the same engine as OoT and was more or less OoT + Epic Side Quests, much similarly to PH and ST, ST was and is entirely PHver2, it has a very conceptually similar story and is just as linear, it just made it less tedious to play it.

But if these sequels improve the previous game then would it make more sense for a tp ver2 because the game was pretty good but could have been better (sidequest, difficulty)

I wouldn't go as far as calling them the worst cause I've seen way worse. And I don't see anything wrong with them. I just makes the game look like painting, a moving painting in fact.

Re: Skyward Sword Graphics

I don't see the reason as to why people get mad about the graphics. as long as you can what your doing and tell what things are then it's fine. personally I like the brightness and the fact that they tryed to make everything classic is awesome. I like the dark atomsphere tp graphics provide but from just looking at the anme "skyward sword". I think it be best to provide and bright atomsphere which means the graphics need to a little bright. am I wrong?

Re: Skyward Sword Graphics

I have to agree with a large number of people here in saying that while Link himself looks fine, the enemies (most of them, anyway) look terrible, and the world (especially the trees) look even worse. I don't even mind the bright cheery colors so much as the highly exaggerated shapes they gave to their models. Even the scorpion enemy, while it looks cool, has a blatant target inside one of its claws. Is that really necessary? Can't we figure out how to beat enemies on our own, Nintendo?

its not the brightness thats the issue, Its the graphic art style thats the problem.

Yes, lacking enough to the point where many of us are now frustrated with Nintendo enough not to buy the game at all

Re: Skyward Sword Graphics

The graphics and, moreover, the color scheme, could be obstacles for this game. It's hard to really get the feel that there is impending doom when the character and enemies look cartoony, and the over-world is overly bright. Even the dungeon in the trailer didn't look at all intimidating.

Only time will tell, but right now I have to align myself with the naysayers.

I know, some people were refering to the brightness so with it being bright is for them. however, I highly disagree when you say "it's all just lacking". I think it's very creative and cool that they took the classics designs and reinvented them somewhat and brought them into skyward sword. I think the art style is awesome and when this game comes out and people buy it. I think everyone will be in for a suprise.

Re: Skyward Sword Graphics

This kinda reminds me of when Wind Waker was announced... Everyone said that those cel-shaded graphics would completely ruin the experience, but after playing we realized that kind of graphics really suited the game.

I believe the same will happen with SS.

I am pretty sure they didn't want it to look like anything else.

Who cares if it doesn't look like that game. You can't keep making all games look the same. Or then you get bored that they are all similar.

that's what I've been saying. why make games all look the same. you got to switch it up everyonce and a while.

In all fairness, that just looked like a bright area of the game, and I think that the demo was just a demo area and not so much an actual dungeon. Also, in OoT there was a widely varied color pallet. In the Shadow temple everything was VERY dark, the bonchuu bowling alley however was very bright and festive.

Well in all fairness once again, the fighting has really been improved upon, apparently it IS generally more difficult, so I think that makes up for it. I would rather have something that is hard to execute than hard to figure out.

Re: Skyward Sword Graphics

Since we only saw a small part of the world in the trailer and demo, I can't judge it for sure, but I like what I've seen so far. I don't think it's too cartoony, sometimes the best games are "cartoony and bright" e.g WW and non-zelda titles like Okami. We'll just have to wait and see =)

Re: Skyward Sword Graphics

I'll just say their a step in the right direction. I gotta say though I am not a particular fan of them. While I like that they're going more stylized and brining in brighter tones, it's got hit and miss moments. I think it just needs a bit of polish -literally some things need to be sharper and shinier that scorpion looks kinda soft like it's covered in cloth if you ask me. Just needs a bit more development and I'm happy.

PS If anyone who remembers me see this boy is it good to be back

Well, I get games shops and the like being festive. The problem I have is when enemies look like buffoons rather than intimidating forces. Cell shading just has a way of taking away the aura of evil that some enemies have. Every enemy shown in the trailer failed to evoke any sense of fear or even appear threatening.

And I realize that OoT had a varied pallet, but I feel like all the adult temples were so well done because they used darker, subdued tones. Specifically, I'm thinking of the greeens and greys of the Forest Temple and the browns and reds of the spirit temple. Nothing there looked reminiscent of a 9 A.M. Anime.

Sooo because a game repeats the Same graphical design means it's boring and forgettable?

Last I remember, people love MM yet it has the same graphics as OoT

Not to mention people were expecting a return of TP graphics for SS.

Re: Skyward Sword Graphics

I don't just mean the same series of games. Obviously they look relatively the same.

Someone expected something like moster hunter tri.
If all game franchises look the same, then they become boring.

SS has its own new unique twist between TP and WW. So why be annoyed that it doesn't look like something else. Wait until you see more than one area.

I hope they do nice water.
