Re: question on TP for GC

The graphics are exactly the same. The only difference is that the gamecube version is a mirror image of the wii version. (if a room is to the left on GC, then it is to the right on Wii, for example)

Re: question on TP for GC

On an ordinary television, they look the same (apart from the mirroring), but the Wii version has widescreen support, so it'd look better than the Gamecube version on a widescreen TV.

Re: question on TP for GC

I honestly don't know, considering I don't have a Wii :/

But, the Wii version of the game is mirrored >_<, the GC is the original.

The Gamecube version is the original and the Wii the mirror not the other way around. I see your point but still am going to forcefully romanticize the punctuation marks.

Boy, I'ma gonna start slapping you upside the head, The GC version came out before the Wii version, so, the Wii version is the mirrored game, not the GC.

And no, the graphics are the exact same

Re: question on TP for GC

Graphics are the same. This is one thing I was seriously pissed off about Wii version of TP. No visual update. When Nintendo had the opportunity too. I don't think I'd pay $250 just for some motion controls (which were fun, I do not deny it).

But it also depends on what TV you got. I've got a 1080p TV, so TP on Wii looks absolutely despicable on it. Rigid lines and GC textures everywhere. I have played on a standard television, and it looks slightly better.

If you've got a 1080p TV though, get the Wii version of TP, SOLELY because of the 16:9 setting. Getting the GC version will make TP look even worse.

Re: question on TP for GC

To address/clarify another part of the original question (which LionHeart might be interested in knowing more about):

Yes, the Wii version is indeed a "mirrored" port of the original GameCube version. What does this mean? Essentially, the game's entire map-structure is reversed -- west becomes east, and east becomes west on the Wii version.

Or, to put it another way:

In all past Zelda games set in Hyrule since ALttP, Lake Hylia and the Gerudo Desert were in the southeast and the southwest, respectively. In the "flip-flopped" Wii version, Lake Hylia is now to the west, and the Gerudo Desert is in the east.

Also, Kakariko Village in Ocarina and the GCN version of Twilight Princess is located in eastern Hyrule. In the Wii port, the mirroring places it in the west. Furthermore, all town, castle, and dungeon maps are "flip-flopped" in the Wii version -- again, east/west to west/east.

Basically, the GameCube version is the "canonical" one with respect to historical map- and visual-continuity, so if these things are important to you (and they certainly are to me), you might consider getting the GCN version.

Re: question on TP for GC

It's weirdly confusing playing the mirror of what you're used to. I tried playing a borrowed copy of the Wii version after beating it on the GC, just to see if Wii-mote archery made a big difference, and I kept getting lost.

Re: question on TP for GC

I feel like singing Meatloaf's "You Took the Words Right Outta My Mouth." Agreed. All of that.

It's exactly the same thing for me, playing the Wii port after finishing the GameCube version -- I felt extremely discombobulated and disoriented, having gotten so accustomed to not only the GCN build's Overworld and town/dungeon maps, but also to the historically-traditional map of Hyrule in general (or rather, at least going back as far as ALttP).

Seeing Lake Hylia and Zora's Domain and the Gerudo Desert (as well as Kakariko Village) suddenly switching places was, to me, a seriously disaffecting experience, and although the 16:9 widescreen support certainly bumps it up visually...I think I still prefer the GameCube version, overall.

Technically the Wii is a mirror of the GC version, TP is a GameCube port to Wii

They made it for the 'Cube, ported it to the Wii, sold the Wii version, and then sold the 'Cube version.

Wii version was first on the market, 'Cube version was developed first. Making the GC version the original.
