Re: Fulcon's Review of Twilight Princess (there's good in there somewhere)

Tatl was okay, Tetra was awesome, Ruto was sort of creepy, Midna was sort of bland and I've never met Lineback. The above, 'cept for Linebeck, is my opinion.

On Midna, I will respectfully disagree. I thought she was bland and kind of mean at the beginning, but then bland and annoying during the latter half. I don't know, I just don't think she was very well written.

Actually, I don't think the game itself was very well written.

Re: Fulcon's Review of Twilight Princess (there's good in there somewhere)

Hmmm, for me Tatl was annoying, Tetra was annoying and Ruto was...annoying. Midna was also annoying until the 2nd half of the game when she both shut up and stopped being Tatl part 2. I just don't like the attitude in general, I absolutely hated Tetra for that. Bad...Zelda stereotype me thinks. Linebeck was a jerk too, but he was pretty hilarious. Midna had a lot of cunning to her though, she was a good chuckle. And I think her character development is some of the best. I may not have cared much for TP's story. But I think the writing was superb, and wasn't just plain out informative text like back in 1998. There was a lot of character, even in the small NPCs. I think Barnes is hilarious. Telma is another great one. Queen Rutela was such a quick character but her appearence meant a lot.

I believe a chick did the script writing to Twilight Princess. And a lot of her work was cut out by Shigeru Miyamoto. TP in general had a lot of new people in it's design team. PH basically has a new team all together, and same with ST. I find that a little troublesome. But according to Eiji Aonuma when MM's development started they hired 20 kids straight from college. How freakin' awesome would that be. Gah, just awesome. Awesome awesome awesome. Making Zelda is probably the worst job in the world, but I'd love to be in their shoes for...like a day.

But that's not really what I'm referring to. To dislike Midna is just fine. I don't, personally, but I can understand why somebody would dislike her character.

However, to say that she didn't change in her personality and motives throughout the game is just completely wrong. Even if she had become the absolute worst character in the history of fiction, that would still be a change, making her a dynamic character.

Being a dynamic character has nothing to do with how good/bad a character is. If a character changed in ANY way, good or bad, they're a dynamic character. That's what I meant.

Double: I personally wasn't to enthralled with MM's story. Not sayin it was bad but I just couldn't get into it. SO this is merely a matter of perspective.

MM didn't have a story. It had one big concept and a billion stories told by each and every character. It's just different altogether. And Double A hasn't even gotten to the best part of MM. :V

Actually it was one big story, it just had a bunch of chapters.

Talhoffer: You can say that about every single Zelda. Each chapter starts at the end of a dungeon and ends with the completion of another.

Re: Fulcon's Review of Twilight Princess (there's good in there somewhere)

Fulcon: Tal described MM as being one large story that was broken up into little chapters. Now let's think about this if each chapter contains a dungeon and the quest/task you need to go on/accomplish then each game would be divided into a bunch of chapters or little sections whichever you prefer.

aspenfox: yes a quest that is not necessary to complete the game. So would you say getting the iron boots in TP is a sidequest? No because you need them but getting the ice arrows in OOT is one. See how it works?

Re: Fulcon's Review of Twilight Princess (there's good in there somewhere)

I've only read the first page of this thread, but all I can say is that Link92 is right. I disliked playing as a Wolf and therefor I never replayed TP, nor did I enjoy it as much as previous Zelda's. Yet, this is just my opinion, the way I feel about it. It doesn't mean that the game failed in anyway and if you look at Link92's post on the first page, you'll see why. He displays facts, while others just voice their opinion without basing it on facts, only on feelings.

TP was a great game in every aspect, it just depends on your personal taste whether you love it or you don't. If you hate shooters, of course you're going to give shooters a bad review, yet this doesn't mean they're bad games (just an example).

#1: There's a slight problem: I used facts too. I used a great deal of opinion, but I did give out facts and my opinions on these facts. Any factual discrepencies (no matter how minor) were corrected afterwards.

#2: Yeah, but Zelda is an adventure game. As a person who loves adventure games, I've come to expect a certain level of quality from them, particularly from Zelda. If it doesn't deliver, I'm going to say so.

#3: Oh, and if it looks like an opinion, it's an opinion. We know this. A great deal of this review is my opinion on the game and how I saw it. That's why it's called 'Fulcon's Review' and not 'This is what the game is, aceept it' (Midna being a sue is a fact, incidentally. There's a whole blasted test I used to prove it).
