Why do people like Midna so much?

Now i don't wanna insult anyone for liking Midna over Navi but i don't see how anyone can like her over navi and actually say shes MORE HELPFUL.

Midna is a lame character to me. For one thing shes ugly. I mean shes a freaking flying monkey and i don't wanna mention her other form cause i don't want to ruin the game for others who haven't finished it but that form is not so appealing ether.

Secondly her advice towards enemies is stupid. Her advice seems to always be a somehow Extremely Accurate Guess. Example ( Oh man he's shooting nuts at you put up your shield and it will prolly go back i dunno) Now that was obviously not very accurate but you get the picture.

Third- OMG NAVI IS ANNOYING HEY HEY LISTEN. Seriously When i played this as a child I was not at all fazed by this. The only reason people bashed it in the first place was because it was something EVERYONE who played the game knew bout. Even people who didn't beat it. It wasn't annoying just a common joke among the game everyone knew but some people blew it out of proportion and made it seem like it was some big deal. So what if navi was more of a Artificial character than Midna? I don't even like Midna. Shes a half naked monkey freak and has the most stupidest hat I've ever seen. Not to mention her little Devil mumbling isn't pleasing itself. I would rather here HEY or LISTEN over that.

Forth- People who believe in romance between link and midna, that's just sick.. Link always has a close bond with his partners. You know why he was sad when she broke the mirror in the end? CAUSE HE WAS ON LIKE A MONTH ADVENTURE WITH HER. I mean Damn Link went looking for navi. It doesn't mean he liked her or wanted to get with her. Plus link Only saw Midna's other form for like 10 minutes. I doubt he fell in love with her small puny monkey form they were just good friends as were all links partners from the previous games (The ones where he had ones anyway)

Fifth - Personality. Midna was a ♥♥♥♥♥. She mocked link and used him and rides his back like some sort of Maniac. Even though she did lighten up on him it was out of pity. Not to mention she's a princess too. Some attitude for someone of royal descent to show towards people.

What I'm saying is.. I don't bash people for liking Midna but when people say shes the best partner its just wrong and a stab to zelda fans.

I'm not saying Navi is the best, hell Elzo is better than her if anything he was the best or Tatl. But Midna was just... No..

I am open to all your insult. I really don't care what people think about me over a video game forum.

I was disappointed at Midna's "real" form.

I prefer Midna over Navi. Midna had more of a backstory to her and was actually a part of the game.
Navi on the other hand was just...there.

Didn't care for midna much at all. Rather poor character IMO. Total cardboard cut out, her shift from self serving imp to little helper was a 2 second process. She wasn't even all that interesting.

Midna? Ugly? I thought she was adorable. You're ugly. How does that feel? I think her design was wonderful and unique, and it really set you up for the surprise at the end.

Romance between Link and Midna- debatable? Yes. Sick? No. A lot of the actions between them come off as romantic or flirtatious to some people. Really, if somebody gently places their hand on your cheek and looks deep into your eyes, it's usually romantic. So you can see where people get the idea.

Her attitude was a great part of her character and allowed for a dramatic character growth. Aonuma refers to this as "Tsundere", meaning the character starts out as snobbish and becomes mushy later on.:

It's a "stab to Zelda fans" to tell Zelda fans who think Midna is the best partner that they are wrong. You're entitled to your own opinion of Midna, but personally, I love her and so do many others. Sounds to me like you've got a stick up your butt. I don't like Tatl, but you don't see me bashing the character.

Or perhaps Caring? Like you know for a Close Companion/Friend. I recall that only happening once when link picked her up after she used the fused shadow and it was more of a look of concern for her well being then a romantic look but than again i can almost Visualize Link French kissing someone less than half his size.

I feel like it is a stab that some New comer character with the classic ''Bad ass with a soft side'' personality comes and works its way up as one of the most favorable characters by people who JUST JOINED THE SERIES. I mean.. I'm not gonna say i was in sense the first Zelda game but i started during the SNES generation and there are WAY more characters that are so much more deeper than Midna and deserve the attention and interest she got. Anyway like you said people are entitled to their own opinion so you got me there.

It's all just a matter of opinion. Personally I though Midna was pretty cool, but obviously not everyone is gonna feel the same. I liked that she was more involved in the progression of the story. OOT would be pretty much exactly the same without Navi.

Midna just had this charm about her. She was the sarcastic sassy sidekick I always wanted, she had personality, unlike most other helpers.

The worst things about her she dropped a third through the story.

Simple as that.

I think you bring up a good point that where a person started in the Zelda series has a big impact on the characters they like.

I only played one other Zelda game before the GC Zeldas and of the games I've played I have to say I like Midna the best. Like several others have said she was intergal to the plot and was a well developed character. But maybe if I'd started earlier in the series I might have a different opinion.

Midna was average, in my opinion. Daphnes (KORL) is my preferred 'sidekick' of the series, for the uninvasive supportive role his character provided while acting as a guiding force for the events of the story. The motivations of his character provided a very meaningful, dramatic climax. The best ending of any Zelda couldn't have occured without Daphnes. <3

Midna was okay, but I attributed her with the Twilight Segments, which were bad, through and through. Furthermore her character was strong, but not compelling; the motivations she hid in the beginning turned out to be simplistic, and it may be an irksome complaint, but we never really knew the Twili, and I believe that it damaged her integrity somewhat.

It would've been nice to know more about what Midna was fighting for. All we ever found out about the Twili is they are the descendants of a race that tried to conquer Hyrule and the only reason given in the game for helping them was because it helped save Hyrule.

But for me that wasn't a big enough oversight to keep from liking Midna.

Midna was, no, IS a great character. In my opinion.

Navi was completely useless. She wasn't involved in anything with the storyline, she was just FREAKING THERE. Heck, Tatl was better than her. The whole "HEY" "LISTEN" "HEY" is most certainly annoying, after awhile. Don't put words into other people's mouth.

If there's one thing I can see eye to eye with you it's the whole romance thing. I'm quite disgusted by that too, since I'm more of a realistic romance story, not between different damn species.

With such an easy game, if you seriously ever come to the point where she has to intervene and speak to you, I'd say you need to be slapped across the face and blatantly shown what you're supposed to do, because it's never that hard to figure out with this game.

Okay you got me up there on the top out her looks, Also no i don't think the king or navi was sexy. Commercially the game has performed rather well, even for a Zelda title. Critically it's performed well too. So no, the game was no flop. You may dislike it, but there's a difference between a disliked game and a flop.

Here's an eye-opener for you, mate; if there ever was such a thing as a "real Zelda game" (which is a term used only by those who do not understand the concept of opinions), I would not trust you to be the one who defines it. The reason is not because you dislike Midna, or Twilight Princess - honestly, that's your opinion and it should be respected. It's just how you word yourself (and how you write those words). Not only does it sour my mood because I hate to see people who just can't grasp the fact that people like Twilight Princess, or that people like Midna, with valid reasons too.

I like Midna, she has a lot of charm. However, I didn't start to like her until the second half of the game.

I like Midna over Navi because she is the TWP and helps fight with you.

She is much more important to the game then Navi was. She also allows you to turn into a wolf and teleport. Could Navi do that?

All navi really did was make weird noises and annoy me.

I did not like minda I thought she was an anoying twilight person.
