Is it really worth it to find all the poes and finish the COO

I've yet to finish TP 100%. I haven't finished The Cave of Ordeals or got all the poe spirits simply because I don't quite see the point of it. I usually just get the first twenty poes for the bottle of fairies tears and then whatever poes get in my way during play since I heard the reward was that Jovoni will fill up your wallet every time you visit him.

That doesn't seem like a worthwhile reward. After all, by the time you find all sixty poes, you're pretty much finished with the game and don't need to fill up your wallet anymore.

And I only really bother to go through the first five levels of the Cave of Ordeals just to open up one fairy fountain so I can use the fairies. The way I see it, opening more than that doesn't seem important enough to go through all that trouble. Especially with the warp feature once link has that ability.

It's worth it because it takes up more gameplay hours. The game has more content because of it, and if you want to enjoy new, challenging parts of the game, it's worth it.

He isn't trying to "enjoy new, challenging parts of the game," he's basically considering whether it's worth wasting time striving to get all poes if the reward is pathetic. And finishing crappy sidequests with pretty lame rewards for more gameplays hours is definitely not worth it. I myself have completed the poes quest, and was bitterly disappointed by the reward.

However, for the Cave of Ordeals, that's a different story. That is MOST DEFINITELY worth it. Well, I will have to contradict the above statement by saying the reward could have been better, but unlike the poe hunt, this will actually test to see how good you are at TP. The enemies are quite challenging. If you still think you're better than that, try doing it with the three heart challenge.

Bottle of Fairies Tears is just a saddening item in itself you drink it and are sad you drank it because now it is gone. The in game rewards are not worth it. Bragging rights that you beat LoZ:TP 100% is worth it however.

The Cave is worth it because it's really, really fun, but the Poes aren't really worth it because all it gives you is unlimited rupees which is WAY more then you'll ever need.

Re: Is it really worth it to find all the poes and finish the COO

I don't actually think the cave is really fun. More like very long and tedious as well as boring. So if going through it for fun is a reason, then cancel that reason out.

But I do agree about the fairies tears. I always find myself hanging onto it for a really long time for emergencies and such, but I hate that whenever you drink it the attack boost it gives you is wiped away the second he takes a hit. It feels like such a waste then.

Re: Is it really worth it to find all the poes and finish the COO

When I play Zelda games, I like to complete them 100%. So when I do side-quests, I'm not doing them for some ultra-mega reward at the end. I'm doing them just for the feeling of accomplishment I get when I finish them. Besides, when has a sidequest in Zelda actually given a good reward when finishing it?

To the topic creator, don't do it if you are just going by the rewards they give you. Because in that case then the poe quest definately isn't worth it, as well as every other sidequest in the game...

Re: Is it really worth it to find all the poes and finish the COO

The Biggoron sword quest was very useful. I think that was TP's biggest problem. The sidequests are pretty much useless. They're fun, at least in my opinion, but I'd like an optional superweapon like the Biggoron sword that can't actually be used to beat the game, but can be used for fun.

Well, some sidequests are exceptions, the biggoron sword being one, but for the most part sidequests are just extra ways to spend time in a game, and just the aspect of completing them is reward enough for me. The biggoron sword wasn't really useful, by the way.

EDIT: Although, I do have to say, finding chest after chest in TP, each containing an orange rupee that you can't fit in your wallet and have to put back in the chest, was pretty...dumb. At least let us keep the rupee. I had to keep tabs on all the chests I had to close so I could go back to them later when I had less rupees. That was annoying.

Re: Is it really worth it to find all the poes and finish the COO

The worst part about that for me is that I have already killed all 60 Poes and so have an unlimited supply of silver rupees from Gengle the cat. Why do I need all those treasure chests filled with money? It's like the developers ran out of ideas of what to put in the chests. They could have given us optional one-time use items like a Bokoblin sword or a Lizalfos axe in certain grottos, or at least, if they could still only put money in the chests, at least give us a different kind of money. Like gold helmets and pendants and stuff that we could sell. I consider this to be TP's only serious flaw.

The sixty poes I would say are not worth it, for the reasons you said.

But the Cave of Ordeals? VERY MUCH WORTH IT. It's fun, you get an extra bottle filled with fairy tears, and if you beat it completely, you can visit any spring to refill the bottle full of fairy tears. But mostly, it's worth it just out of how much fun it is.

Every Zelda games has something like TPs poes quest. A long drawn out quest with a reward that makes you go "oh...ok".

It's not really a serious flaw. There are some really useful sidequests in the game regardless.

The rewards suck...but it's fun just going around doing whatever. You get to see parts of the game that are well hidden. Kind of like the Triforce Quest, except the beauty of it is that it's completely optional. TP was my first 100%'d game.

Well, aside from the quiver upgrades and bom upgrades the rewards you get from zelda sidequests usually are crap.

Ice arrows.

They could have put heart pieces in the grottos' chests, and take them of the dungeons... I don't see the point of raising the necessary pieces to complete a heart from 4 to 5, only to make all the extra pieces appear in the middle of the dungeons you have to visit (also, it was a pain to have to look on the internet if a chest had a heart piece before opening it in the 3-hearts run)... While the opcional mini-dungeons basically just have money...

I had 6 more poe souls to get. Never bothered with the rest even though I finished the game 6 times. The reward is really is disappointing but its nice to see what happens after you help him. He gets his body back or something and something happens with his girlfriend... I can't remember.

You don't have to collect them all if you don't want to.

I just found it great to finish off what I started. Like an artwork; you get pleasure and weight taken off your shoulders for completing it.

Same goes towards finishing sections in Zelda games.

Like others have said if you're wanting a good reward then don't waste your time on the poe quest. The Cave of Ordeals on the other hand is a must, it is the most challenging part of TP (including all the boss fights) and it will really test your gaming skills. I'm currently trying a 3-heart challenge run of the Cave and the best I've been able to do so far is floor 40 of 50.

I would say it is worth it to finish the COO. That part is always fun for me. Wheter it be in the WW or TWP.
