TP: There are actually 3 shields.

I just realized this today. There's the Ordon Shield, and there's the Hylian Shield, but there's also a Wooden Shield, which is different, and you can buy it in shops if your Ordon Shield burns.

There is a difference between the Wooden and Ordon Shields, although their function is the same, the look and name are different. It is possible to go through the entire game without buying this shield, as I did. I just dismissed the Wooden Shield as being the same as the Ordon Shield, and didn't really see the difference.

P.S. Does anyone else find it lame that you don't keep the Wooden Sword after you upgrade it? I miss Wooden Sword.

Ya I also beat the game 100% and I still have the Ordon Shield.. Oh there is a glitch you can do in TP where you can keep the Wooden Sword and you can bypass the gate that leads to Faron Woods really early.

Technically, you haven't completed the game 100% until you have the Wooden Shield, but it doesn't matter.

Yeah, Wooden Sword was cool.

However, the Master Sword is way cooler.

Well seeing as how it hardly did any damage (compared to the Ordon & Master Swords), broke when a kid tried using it and was (IMO) a piece of crap, I didn't.

depends on the person, some people think that its 100% if you keep the unique version of the same item.

ZeldaZealot personally thinks that the Ordon Shield > the Wooden Shield, even tho they are pretty much exactly the same thing, reason is that if the Wooden Shield burns up, you can just go get a new one, but if the Ordon Shield burns there is no way for you to get another Ordon Shield.

TP may as well have ONE shield. They all do the exactly the same thing. One just burns. That's it.

Yea but then you wouldn't have the ordon shield. 100% either way you look at it, personally.

You do what the video shows here. The earlier method have it so that you must get the Ordon sword, but the video I link you to shows how to skip it. If you get the Ordon sword and then the Wooden sword, the Wooden sword is equipped but Ordon sword stays in the inventory so the Wooden sword will be gone when you have to equip the Master sword. So to have the Ordon sword skipped entirely, the Wooden sword will stay with you all the way instead of ending when you get the Master sword.

This other video here shows you in detail how to enter the Twilight without the Ordon sword. That's the pain in the ass part.

haha, I second this.

On my second playthrough, I assumed that after getting the Master sword (of course it doesn't) So I wasn't actually using the master sword until the Temple of Time, when my brother pointed it out to me..

Re: TP: There are actually 3 shields.

Does it increase in defense rating from L-1 to L-2? Or is it simply just a name change?

Defence rating? All shields in 3D Zeldas have always had the same "Defense Rating"... The only eventual difference is that some shields burn (deku/ordon/wooden shield), some are just regular shields (hylian/hero shield) and some reflect light and some magic (mirror shield). The Ordon Shield and the Wooden Shield are the same, gameplay-wise, they're just a model-swap of each other. It's not like the Wooden Shield is a L-2 Shield either, it's just a alternative L-1 Shield (the Hylian Shield being TP's L-2 Shield).

And I think the game is closer to completion when you keep the Ordon Shield, as it is unique.

Re: TP: There are actually 3 shields.

I'm not sure, but I think the Wooden sword has the same strength as the Ordon sword. I know there's no logic in that, but the game isn't intended you to still have it when you have the hero's tunic on. I would test it out with the Faron Woods monsters to compare, but I don't have the game with me right now. It's humorous using the Wooden sword to learn the sword skills with.

I wish there exists a glitch to keep the Ordon clothes on...

I don't think there is a reason to keep the wooden shield... he is inferior than the others, so... it's disposable...

I don't think that my Ordon shield ever broke, or burned.
