Wink Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?

i think twilight princess looks great,
but i miss fire arrows i used to have so much fun shootin everything i could melt with fire arrows lol, plus in MM ice arrows i become very fond of. light arrows where awesome always lol

i miss the magic meter, cuz all my favorite items (lens of truth, elemental arrows, exc.) needed the magic meter lol

how about you? do you miss things from the old games? or do you like them gone?

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?

I liked it without the magic meter because now that I think about the game's general gameplay style, Nintendo went for a more real Zelda. They replaced what could have been magical items with realistic items that are more believable, i.e. the ball and chain, bomb arrows, and the extra clawshot they added for innovation. Those alone gave it a more visceral touch to the way you play the game. As compared to past fantastical LoZs, where you would just bring up your bow and whimsically take an arrow that engulfs itself in flames or ice , TP had a more natural approach. Attaching the Hawk Eye goggles to the Heroes Bow enabled sniping, which could not have been done before (correct me if I'm wrong). TP had it's few mystical items, such as the Dominion Rod and Gale Boomerang, but they were kept to a minimum to keep it more Earthly. The rest of TP, with it's story, puzzles, sidequests, and graphics, were just as they should be to maintain the 'Zelda' feel. I don't think it's better or worse than the other LoZs, just radically different.

hyeaha awesome XD, but i dnt need hawk goggles for sniping lol,im a beast at snipin XD
sounds interestin, now you got me even more curious bout TP lol
i agree with the reality part, but they couldve kept the magic meter as a way to restrict usage on certain items lol, i love it when im just bout to kill the 2nd boss in MM &i end up runnin out a energy lol, like change the name to : energy bar lol that way its more realistic ^_^

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?

The graphics were obviously better. It has a decent background story. However, I'd say it is equal to oast games simply because some past games had better background stories, actions, dungeons, and characters.

Maybe they could make a Zelda game with the Sheikah in it completely and like, reveal who they are and stuff and then you learn how to be one.....!

I agree. I'm glad Zelda Wii engulfed you in the magical world of hyrule, and kept it very real, so when you got to the parts like the city in the sky, it made it seem so believable, i think they purposely made the game very real yet still had those crazy places all video games do, but you never really noticed they were crazy things that could never happen. i really liked that when i played it.

My theory for Zelda Wii-
The girl in the concept art is the living/spiritual incarnation of the Master Sword. She will change between Sword and human at her own will at first, aiding you with tips, etc. (like Midna) in her human form, and then obviously being your sword in, well, sword form. Later in the game you will get the ability to change her between her forms by yourself.

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?

All of the Zelda games that came out after 2000 felt like disappointments to me. I felt that Zelda was going into the wrong direction. But Twilight Princess is up there with OoT and MM for me. TP is a peak in comparison to the Zelda recession that came after MM. So...It holds its own.

Another TP topic...

TP is, in my opinion, the best Zelda made. Graphics, gameplay, soundtrack...all brilliant. BUT it's not perfect.

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?

For me, TP came at a perfect time. I loved OoT as a kid and that's when I became interested in Zelda games. Then I completely lost interest during the WW era. I hated the cartoony style, and thought I would never play another Zelda game again. Then TP came out and completely changed everything. Since finishing TP and declaring it the best Zelda game, I have also beaten ALTTP, LoZ, MM, and my younger brother has beaten WW. The sailing still turns me off the game, but it's a good game.
