Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?
I actually consider TP to be the best in the series because it has the most polished and refined gameplay of any Zelda game before it. And because I place gameplay and freedom of exploration as having greater importance than any other game trait, that's why TP is the best in my honest opinion.

eh bleach came up with hueco mundo 1st,then pokemon started planning reverse world,& then you have LotZ twilight enough said.
plus theres ton of stuff with werewolves that im not getting into it. i just think they couldve done far better, if they just sat there and thought about it,instead of twisting others ideas into their own. TP has great graphics, and gameplay, but when i played the demo,i felt like i played it a thousand times. i am planning on playing it,but i dont think ill like the repetitive-ness after playing pokemon, and bleach,& castlevania. plus ganondorf has become boring, hes either in every game, or mentioned and its just too much, i have mastered the art of killing him too many times to count, i need someone stronger to fight, like majoras mask he was awesome, he actually gave me a hard time,& still gives me a hard time lol

First of all. There are no werewolves in Zelda.
and second, the Twilight is nothing like some random anime, Zelda's been using alternate dimensions since 1987. =\

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?
Better or worse? Its all about your own personal prefferances. Graphically hands down its been the best. Gameplay, it was good, really good. But I've liked TWW best so far for the gameplay. Story? The story was good, i thought it was a good deep and dark story. Overall I enjoy TP, never saw anything wrong with it. And I've been a long time Zelda player. Was it the Zelda I was dreaming of.. no. But it was good.

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?
TP 'holds its own' and that's about all.
It did ditch a lotta lotta things I loved in favor of more "realistic" bull****. For example, I love magic in the Zelda games. TP discarded it. I quite simply hate the fact that games are all striving to as real as real life. If I wanted to be in reality I'd play the call up friends and do something game. As a game, TP is ok. Nothing particularly great, but nothing particularly terrible -it let down on the hype which is what got me pissed at it. Even if the hype was the size of godzilla on roids, fulfilling some would have been nice. As a Zelda, I don't think it lives up to its pedigree. I see it as a game where Nintendo said, "Let's strip down Zelda to the bare minimum, strip a bit more, and rebuild it using old bits and pieces of other games." Quite honestly, of all the Zeldas, I see TP as a cram session or maybe sparknotes. They get the job done, but they aren't as fulfilling as actually going through the entire experience. This is the play it safe strategy that I detest. If we let game companies just remake the same games over and over with different elements added in or taken out, how will we get anything new and exciting? Overall, there's nothing really 'wrong' with TP, but I just don't see much 'right' with it either.

Talhoffer said it for me.
but seriously they went too far with changes in my opinion. &no theyve been doing alternate versions of the same dimension: its always hyrule. the only exception is: terminia, which was an actually alternate dimension. twilight is just a rip off from pokemon, cuz if you look at the pics: it looks nearly the same to reverse world (which they have been planning since gen.2) werewolves no? what the hell do you call link!? he turns into a wolf, meanin you got a werewolf. its that simple. realistic bull**** in zelda is just not right, plus it just feels weird, i loved the whole oooo wats this do,ooooooo yay it uses magic lol i miss my bloody fire arrows T_T

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?
TP had plenty of magc. Just because you don't have a meter doesn't mean you don't have any magic at all. Most Zeldas don't have magic meters anyways. TP was going to, but they dropped it last minute. They were just going to use it for the Spin attack, jump strike, force field attacks, and all other nonsensical situations. Did you really want to be bothered with more limits on the game?
Thinking back to ALttP, I absolutely hated the magic meter, it was the worst part of the game when you absolutely needed the Fire Rod and Cane of whatever (Not Bryna) it was horrid. I want my magic meter too, but to say TP is realistic because it DOESN'T have have a magic meter is retarded. Only ALttP, OoT, MM and TWW have magic maters...and ALttP is the only game to make good use of it, which isn't necessarily good. I honestly doubt the Zelda team was copying Pokemon. =/ They said pretty early on they were inspired by ALttP which had an evil mirror world of Hyrule. A wolf isn't a werewolf. Wolf Link was more like a dog anyways.

no i didnt say that by removing the magic meter it was realistic, they removed everything magical except the dominion rod,& master sword.
maybe the boomerang... the simularities between reverse world& twilight are too great to ignore mate. no dog looks like that and no werewolf walks on 2feet.

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?
I liked Twilight Princess a lot better than the games before it... I have to say Wind Waker was a disappointment (I couldn't get past the cuteness haha) and Majora's Mask had cool symbolism and world, I liked the art (I bought the guide book just for that picture of Fierce Diety Link) but the gameplay was less... impressive. I want to back it up with some statistic or something, but it just wasn't all that fun. I was always forced to be Deku Link, and I hated being Deku Link. It was like the game was punishing me for something the whole game, and I couldn't figure out what I did to deserve it.
So Twilight Princess comes along, and has a great art style (just TELL me Twilight Princess doesn't look cool!) as well as hero. Link was almost a real person, for once! And yet he was still a great person. I liked how they gave Link a semi-plausible existance, he actually had been working for his whole life (farmboy!), so his strength has some reality to it. Plus, I got a cool sword (the Ordon Sword!! YES! FINALLY my sword does not look like a toy!) and I got to fight epic bosses like the Goron Balrog guy. And Ganondorf was a cool King of Evil! He looked STRONG, I was intimidated by him! I can see a real person who looked like that being very intimidating. However, Twilight Princess had three things I didn't like: the whole Wolf thing (Wolf fighting was boring! Point - chomp chomp chomp. Point- chomp chomp chomp. Boring!), Epona ran like a frog (watch! she leaps!) and... crap, I can't think of a third thing. |

Werewolves are humanoid wolven beings (not just plain wolves) which walk on both thier hind legs and on all fours

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?
Its good unless you don't like games that are easy (not puzzles and stuff like that, those are decent, I mean gameplay). I've always hated the magic meter, I never used those items unless it was absolutely necessary. In TP, when I got to the mansion level and saw blocks of ice, I was like here we go again with the fire arrows but they completely surprised me with a fun and usable item.

anyways fire arrows are the best XD i love the fire arrows, just yesterday i was playin majoras mask, and i was up against gomez and i shot him with fire arrows just for a laugh lol you guys are no fun at all T_T you guys want the easy way out, no magic meter means no limitation& oyu can use it all you want, which is sad i enjoyed it when i was fighting twinmold & my giants mask ran out lol, then i had to run all over trying to kill them lol

Re: Twilight Princess: better or worse than old games?
PMD, you like hardly make sense.
Anyway, I dont know if TP is better or worse than any of the older games. I think it was better than Wind Waker. Atleast in my opinion, Wind Waker was the weakest of the console titles. As for those who were saddened because it didnt live up to the hype, well...Thats what you get for leaping onto the hype train! Serves you right!
