Just for the hell of it, I'm posting all the OP banners that have been used for the past contests:

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
I can't think of anything that could make it better, the contest is already awesome. As for getting it in a magazine, I'd see about that section in the very back of Nintendo Power?

Another thing, I think it would be nice if all the judges each wrote a small paragraph about the winning entry and what they liked about it.
Coz it seems to me that the top 5 entries all got the same amount of "praise" last time. |

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
^I was going to do that last time except we didn't have much time for that as you all know. I'll make sure it's done next time.
Ok, so I want this to start in the first days of November and have it end in the second week of December. I'm actually leaning more towards the idea of: starting mid-November, ending mid-January. What do you guys think? |

However, I predict greater support, and justification, for the latter. |

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
... not to mention that the later starting date of the second alternative gives Lloyd more time to prepare.
So, in theory, the contest could start in about 3 weeks at the latest. I'll have finished my boss by then |

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
I already wrote a six page entry only to realize it wouldn't work for Wii or DS, only for Gamecube
![]() Anyway, I think it'd be cool to limit it to one DS entry and one Wii Entry for each person, that way there would actually be some DS entries.

My entry uses the WM+. Also, my entry is about 2.5x as long as yours (microsoft word, fontsize = 10, 13-15 pages). It's got a massive backstory, as well as descriptions of the temple's 3 minibosses, which play into the story. Heck, it's longer than freaking Vudurah! I will punch myself in the gut twice for every entry longer than mine in the upcoming competition.

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
I would of written an entire book on just the dungeon, but it's not design a dungeon, it's design a boss. However my new entry might be pretty long, it uses Wii motion+ and has new gameplay without changing the classic 3-D Zelda formula. I prefer to be vague on the actual game's story, but that's just the way I like to write it.

Having said that, I realize that an original battle is far more important, and I've made sure to take care of that matter.

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
Meh, I've got pretty good balance. My backstory, dungeon detail and battle are all about the same size, or so I estimate (I haven't finished it yet).

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
Yeah, I was going to go for more balance in my new entry. I also got the story to fit in with the "master sword girl" which is pretty cool. However I still need to work on the fight. I think my old Clockwork Golem suffered from bad presentation and backstory. I think I'm going to go for more backstory, but I still don't want to make a huge backstory that makes the boss look like some super infamous boss (that's probably going to be the hardest part.)

Now that I think about it, for my current entry, I've made my backstory the shortest part of my entry. My battle takes up the most room, but not by far.

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
Actually, I don't think they look at backstory very much. It's not one of the things they judge (supposedly) and my entry, Hydrazavox, had the ♥♥♥♥tiest backstory ever and got 8th place because the fight was original and unique.

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
The thing about LoZ bosses is that they don't have much of back-story. I personally encourage people to put less priority on the back-story. Of course, we always do look at the boss's background, and the ones that are interesting do get points for that.
Ok, don't ask and just pick one of the following (anyone): Wisdom, Power, or Courage. |

Re: Design a Boss: Lupus | Feedback and Suggestions
All 3 (and will and magic, because my entry somewhat revolves around those five)!!!
