Official E3 Legend of Zelda Thread

Sear says: This is now the official discussion thread on the new GameCube Legend of Zelda and the Game Boy Advance Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, which were unveiled at E3 last week. All "yippe!" type posts can go in here, as can random discussion and comments. Threads related to specific aspects of the new games are allowed, but others which serve the same purpose as this thread will be locked.

What is everyones thoughts on the new realistic look of Zelda for the Cube? It was shown at E3 recently and im simply speechless. Sorry if someone else made a thread like this but i didnt see one.. So everyone whaddya think ?!?!

Unfortunately due to the hacking, we lost all of the discussion related to the new Zelda game. I'll make this one the official thread for random discussion and general opinions and such.

Hacking ye say?

Oh well, I think the Legend of Zelda will be amazing, and since the director is rumoured to be the director of Majora's Mask, it should be even better!

Heh, Jaz you're a little off...Neither Aonuma nor Miyamoto will be leading the production in this game, although they are still involved. From what I've heard, the head of the project has not been announced yet...

I agree...having Miyamoto involved would certainly make it worth-while.

Re: Official E3 Legend of Zelda Thread

I got some interesting news about this game....check it out:
Quote:
Legend of Zelda is planned to be released sooner than everyone thinks.
Thursday, May 20 2004 - The new Legend of Zelda game for the Gamecube has been esitmated for an October 18, 2004 release date according to EBgames.com and Gamestop.com. Although this is only an esitmated release date it is never a bad thing to think about the new, more realistic looking Zelda.

WHAT???......Ooooookay, that's not at all what I expected since I heard earlier that they had hoped...HOPED to put out a playable demo by next years E3.....But then again Zelda games lately have a reputation to be delayed

Re: Official E3 Legend of Zelda Thread

Yeah, I noticed that at gamestop they had an estimated release date of this year. I was sure it was a mistake and think it might be them just trying to put a date to it. I've seen gamestop do this before when the game is supposed to be out at some estimated time they put an actual date and change the date when the real release date is decided.

Re: Official E3 Legend of Zelda Thread

I don't expect this game over here in North America any time before the holiday season 2005. Anything less is unreasonable.

Re: Official E3 Legend of Zelda Thread

Yes, I'd rather them finish production some time in 2005, then a realease a crappy Zelda game. It would just be disappointing to see a new concept with Zelda (Darker) would be thrown away. As much as other retailers (EBgames) and others wish, I hope it will come out sometime 2005.

Re: Official E3 Legend of Zelda Thread

Over at ign they've said that Nintendo will have a playable version and much more polished version of Zelda at next year's E3 which suggests to me that it won't come out until the latter half of 2005.

This is a reasonable assumption as I believe that Nintendo will wait to the lucrative Christmas season to release what will most likely be one of the best games on the market.

Mitsuhiro Takano

Company: Nintendo Co., Ltd.
Position: Director and Script Writer
Department: Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development
Entrance: 1994

Mitsuhiro Takano started out as a scenario planner and script writer for many games including Marvelous, Star Fox 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Takano got to team up with director Masamichi Abe, and co-direct his first title, 1080 Snowboarding. Takano's script work on The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and lead design efforts on 1080 Snowboarding really impressed Miyamoto. When Eiji Aonuma left the Zelda series to work on original EAD projects, Takano seized the opportunity and stepped in as the new main director of the sequel to GameCube's The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Mitsuhiro Takano - Director - Nintendo EAD

Mitsuhiro Takano is making his directorial debut on The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo GameCube. Takano has worked for both Nintendo R&D2 and Nintendo EAD in his 7 year tenure as everything from a script writer, graphic designer, to assistant director. Takano spoke briefly of his project and mentioned the development team was working very hard on expanding the controls and hoped to fully utilize the GameCube controller. It shall be interesting to see how one third of the original The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask creative designers does with the new Zelda now that Eiji Aonuma and Yoshiaki Koizumi have moved on to other projects.

Assistant Director - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Assistant Director - Marvelous ~Another Treasure Island~
Coordinator - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Demonstration Sequence Director - Wave Race 64: Kawasaki Jet Ski
Director - 1080° Snowboarding
Graphic Design - Marvelous ~Another Treasure Island~
Script & Event Planning - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Script Writer - Star Fox 64
Script Writer - The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

There is also supposed to be another fella working at it, but we dont have as much info about him.

Hajime Takahashi

Company: Nintendo Co., Ltd.
Position: Designer
Department: Unknown
Entrance: Unknown

Notable Credits

Assistant Director - Luigi's Mansion
Assistant Director - Pokemon Stadium 2
Script & Event Planning - The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
