So it's going to be a 3D version of the last console game with 3D control schemes added in? Cause that's what OoT was. To say TP wasn't great because it took a lot from OoT than praising OoT for being 100% original is bullocks and hypocrisy. OoT took the formula, a lot of elements, and music that ALttP had.

TOTG: I agree completly.
Given the likely additions of orchestrated music, WM+, and how he said it will be different from all previous games I can safely say that we may be in for quite a treat.

Are you saying OoT is as similar to AlttP as TP is to OoT?
What I meant was that OoT took the series to the next level, and I expect zelda wii to do the same

Re: Zelda Wii Trailer in October?

Well, if "completely new engine" doesn't say different game, I don't know what does. I really want to see this thing.

But just a question of clarification--there is going to be something big tomorrow shown, right? Not necessarily Zelda, a relatively big announcement?

Re: Zelda Wii Trailer in October?

I believe its Pikmin 3. No one has really asked for it, and it is an established I.P. I hope its zelda, but i cant help having this feeling that its not. It would be smart to anmnounce zelda though, it would bring up wii sales for the holiday season. but i doubt it.

About 45 Days until spirit tracks!!!! I'm getting on that hype train We will finally know what happened to hyrule-kingdom post-flood.!!!

Whaaaaaat? Plenty of people have been asking for Pikmin 3, and I seriously doubt that it would be an incredibly unexpected title that no one would be able to guess. Apparently, the game is supposed to be less cool in concept than that Pokemon spin-off game coming to Wii, but a completely unexpected triple-AAA title. How a game can fit into both of those categories, I am still unsure of...

I've pointed out like three times in this thread that E3 2010 is not the only possible venue for the Zelda Wii trailer. There is one annual Nintendo summit that is yet to be given a date for this year and there is the GDC, which always takes place in Q1. GDC has featured debut trailers for big Nintendo games before.

Also, I very much doubt that it's Pikmin 3. They confirmed its development at E3 this year but this unveiling is supposed to be inconceivable to people in general.

I'll be pissed if it's a 3D Mario for the DS. Handheld Mario is always nice but the DS doesn't do 3D well.

I'll be pissed if it's anything Mario all together. Don't Mario fans have enough to keep them full and satisfied for quite a while, now?

But were Zelda fans, we're used to waiting. I would like to see some screens though eventually, it would make the wait a lot more bearable.

I think I'm finally getting excited for this game. ****.

Ocarina of Time was done without the limitations of an SNES game in mind, and it also brought several major gameplay mechanics (as well as songs, lore, and characters) that have since became standby for the series.

Twilight Princess worked within the limits of Ocarina of Time (a N64 game released 8 years prier) and did nothing unique with it. It even follows Ocarina of Time down to exact events like Zora's Domain freezing over and Death Mountain erupting violently. It constantly tries to remind us of Ocarina of Time every chance it gets; yet, Ocarina of Time did everything better.

I agree, but bear in mind, everybody wanted OoT again after Wind Waker. Nintendo was just trying to please the unpleasable Zelda fans.

Anyway, TP was done with the limitations of the GC in mind (standard controller, tiny 1.5GB discs). You never know, motionplus and more disc space might add new mechanics and breath new life into the series. 1:1 Swordfighting, Voice acting, more dungeons, larger overworld and more sidequests are just some of the benefits the wii may bring.

At least, if Nintendo decide to put effort into this one. But after Super Mario Galaxy, my hopes are very high indeed...
