A drastic change in gameplay.
Well, I've been thinking that the Zelda forumla has gotten rather stale, as far as gameplay goes. So I think that maybe we can shake up Link's gameplay options and moves, like how he swings his sword to how his adventuring and going through dungeons is handled.
Any ideas and thoughts?

Re: A drastic change in gameplay.
It could be better. Besides, what's 'good' is getting 'stale'.
EDIT: ^ Not as drastic as some of the other stuff I think of when I think about changing it. I think it's a good idea, though. EDIT 2.0: Come on, people? Where's the super drastic changes that I was expecting?

Re: A drastic change in gameplay.
I would like Nintendo to make old into new, in the same way they did for Galaxy.
The problem isn't stale gameplay, it's un-varied gameplay. You could argue that Super Mario Sunshine's gameplay was pretty new, but its relative lack of variation made it get old pretty quick.

Re: A drastic change in gameplay.
Yeah, an FPS, but it'd be more like GTA, gameplay wise. You'd have a big open world and you'd be able to kill whatever you want and stuff, and you could steal people's horses.

First-person could be a good idea. I would like a jump button. I'd like the puzzles to be more difficult. Difficulty levels could take care of that as long as they did more than just giving enemies more health. Puzzles like things in Uncharted (for the PS3) would be nice with their own little Zelda twist. |

Re: A drastic change in gameplay.
There are many things I'd like to see added to the game such as a weather and time system based on your area, but I think I'm also hoping for a new approach in gameplay and presentation. I want to see more interaction within a more practical world and the LoZ universe, and this may involve interaction and use of more characters as well as the concept of teamwork and strategy. For the presentation, I'm just hoping for this clash of highly secular and bizarre spiritual concepts. Very vague, I know, but it would be a presentation like no other. I want this new title to appeal to the senses and hit you with various emotions to truly feel the spirit of the game, and this is what can make gameplay sublime and one of a kind.
Blatantly speaking, I could say I'm hoping for a truly dark game, but it's just so wise to avoid that term since it never really describes the approach entirely. Other than that, I don't know. I am an advocate of futuristic setting and would be glad to see the abandoning of the dungeon or level formula. The futuristic setting would be a perfect opportunity to present a new way of advancing through the game. Unlike the vague, fairy-tale settings of all the LoZ titles (note that I'm avoiding Middle Ages or Medieval here. Wouldn't make much sense, really), a futuristic setting implies pretty much a different kind of situation in every way. The plot inside that different setting is likely to lead to a never before seen objective, and the progress of the game makes use of the over-populated setting to present a distinct and new formula. *Shrugs* Beyond that, I want a clean slate. I'd like to witness a truly new LoZ title that hardly relates to the others. |

That doesn't really sound like Link at all...

Re: A drastic change in gameplay.
Just coz they're putting in WM+ doesn't mean that the gameplay instantly becomes original and un-varied. All it is, is better motion control for the Wiimote. It's how its used that matters, and original gameplay that is still entertaining and intuitive is probably the hardest thing to come up with, out of all the things you have to make for a game.

In the same way, a game that takes a tonne of gameplay cliches can still be fun if those gameplay cliches are all different, giving you something new to do every so often.
