It's the Phantom Train from Final Fantasy VI (go play it now).
Something like it would actually be a pretty cool fit for the Spirit Tracks. In FFVI, it transported the souls of the dead to the afterlife, kinda like with the ferryman bringing the dead across the river Styx in the old mythologies.

I agree with most of everyone's opinions. I believe, since Nintendo is bringing something very different to the Zelda series, that being there is a train it would only be appropriate to include a new villain to the series.
However, this villain must have a good back story. Ganon(dorf) has been a staple villain in the series partly due to the fact that his back story is so immersive and detailed. Bellum failed as a villain due to his lack of story and complete lack of actually being interesting. If Nintendo would put the same effort in a new villain as they have with Ganondorf we could finally see an acceptable returning villain instead of some throw away "rent-a- bad guy" to cover Ganondorf's temporary leave of absence.

I don't really care who the villain is as long as he has a nice and full backstory while not being Ganondorf.
From the kinds of monsters and puzzles sighted in the promos, it looks like Bellum is likely to appear, unless the PH batch of stuff is considered the new "generic". |

First off, Bellum was originally made to be Vaati. Interviews with the big wigs say, 'DS for four swords but then we decided no', so Bellum was made in Vaati's image, hence the purple and all the eyes.
Second, I'd like to see Vaati, but without the four sword I don't think it would feel right. I don't know what I'd like to see for a main villain. I just wanna be surprised.

Great point there, Oni. They should do a story about the Hero of Men, mostly developed by the god that is Aonuma, as that would will really clear up some of the timeline confusion. It could also answer the 1,000,000,000 rupee question: Is The Minish Cap the first game, or is it post-flood?

Hey, I would love to see Twinrova again, especially in a cel-shaded style. Anyway, I hated Bellum. Did he/she/it have a single line in the entire game? I really hope that they choose to flesh-out whatever villain is in Spirit Tracks, because it's no fun to beat up on a baddie when you have no evidence of him being bad.

It would be nice if we found out more about him, but do you really want to fight him again? It would be cool though to have the phantom turn on you. I was really hoping it would have something to do with the train though.
