Re: boat vs train

Can't tell, since I haven't played Spirit Tracks yet.

Depends on how many ideas they put into the train and into the railroad system. And how much customizeable your train is.

I like Linebeck's boat, but we have no idea what functions the train has yet...

We just can't tell yet, but I would like to think that the train might mean that we will be able to jump down and walk around a bit if we feel like it.

Re: boat vs train

I'm still a little "eh" on the whole train idea... I feel like they are pushing it too far into the future. What's next, guns?? But I know I'll probably play it and love it. Zelda can do no wrong... but if I had to chose...

TOO FAR! Do you have any idea the time that occurs between these games!
They should have more than just trains!

Re: boat vs train

Bucket Mouse: Centuries, given the amount of games and the fact that a millenia can happen in the span of seven games or so they should have developed trains a long time ago.

Well, if Hyrule hasn't followed a realistic pattern of development so far, why should it start now?

Sorry. Too good to pass up. Anyway, won't know 'till Spirit Tracks is out, but for the time being, I vote Train.

From the looks of it the train is just a boat on land. Meh. =\

Re: boat vs train

Although I don't really know much about the train in comparison to the boat right know, I have to admit I'm kind of excited for the train. It might be really cool.

Why are some people so flustered about it anyway? They both run on steam. It's just like the boat, but on land. ZOMG TECHNOLOGY, RUN!!!1!1!!!

Re: boat vs train

I heard somewhere that ST is about 100 years after PH.

ANd the train is just a land-counterpart to the boat. They both run on steam power, and they weren't physically invented too far apart from each other in our world, so seeing a trian after a steam ship isn't too far fetched. They also had guns before steamships, so if they didn't exist in PH, they have probably been completely removed from that dimension so the games wouldn't be rated T.

I actually like the train. I don't know, sometthing about the idea just appeals to me. I mean, wasn;t there a time in everyone's life when they wanted to drive a train? Well, here's our chance people.

Re: boat vs train

Well I really loved the boat in WW, you were free to explore the entire area completely. I hope that the train doesn't limit you. I hope that you can get off the train and explore.

The boat
Too far into the future? Zelda never technically took place in the past in the first place. Besides, there's a telephone in Link's Awakening and color photographs in The Wind Waker, which were both invented after the locomotive.

Anyway, in regards to the topic, I think that the train looks promising and innovative, and will possibly top Linebeck's steamboat. But I don't know for sure yet.

Exactly what I thought. There aren't too many fantasy games like this that let you control a train. I'm excited that it's a Zelda title that will let me experience that.
