Its a trend Nintendo will continue (beginning with PH and TP in particular). This trend will keep occurring because Nintendo see the need to develop a storyline in the game (as can be seen with TP) but can only have such a detailed storyline by having a second character (for example Midna) and what better way to have this second (or first because Link doesn't speak - shame on Nintendo) as a side-kick? So TP set a low standard for all Zeldas to follow. Now they've revealed one single important artwork that suggests this is his new side-kick and I am assuming that it will be one more big side-kick game where we have to do what the side-kick says.

Also, from ONE PICTURE, you'd concluded that the game will revolve around that one person. WHAT IF OMG WHAT IF. That isn't even a sidekick.

I...actually...really liked TP, and don't think it deserves such harsh criticism. I actually thought that it took a few steps forward as far as story-telling, cinematics, and maturity, and I was SUPER addicted to it while it lasted.

Just not enough side stuff to do, that's my main complaint. I'd like it if they added on the things they introduced in the game, to be honest.

As a fan of sonic i'll ignore that comment but you're right about everyting else. TP did not ruin the franchise and it was not a rehash of OOT, here's why

OOT events:Link awakens gets equipment heads to deku tree. Defeats Gohma obtains KE. Enters Hyrule Castle, talks with Zelda. Heads to DM, defeats KD and obtains GR. Heads to ZD and enters JJ, defeats Barinade and obtains ZS. Heads to TOT pulls MS ages seven years. Obtains LM and meets sheik. Obtains HS in Kakariko. Clears first Three Temples. Meets sheik in kakariko. Heads back in time and clears BOTW. Completes shadow temple. Enter's GH and obtains membership(something like that) pass. Arrives at ST, heads back in time. Clears ST. Returns to future and clears ST again! Arrives at Ganon's tower and enters it. Defeats Ganon and escapes with Zelda. Defeats ganon again and heads back in time.

TP events: Intro in Ordon Village. Rescues Talo, Prepares to depart for HC but children are captured. Enters TR and becomes wolf. rescued by Midna, meets Zelda and escapes TR. Obtains sword and shield, saves ordona and enters TR again. Restores Faron, heads off to FT, clears FT obtains first fused shadow. Enters Twilight again and restores eldin. Reaquires Epona. Learns how to sumo, obtains iron boots. saves colin. climbs DM. Defeats Cor Goron in sumo contest. Enters GM, clears GM obtains second fused shadow. Enters twilight realm and finds illia in CT, heads to LH, unfreezes ZD, restores light to Lanayru. Escort illia, Telma, and ralis to Kakariko. obtains ZA and WB. Enters LT, clears LT obtains final fused shadow. Encounters Zant, is trapped in wolf form. Reunites with Zelda, Midna is saved. Heads to sacred grove, enter's grove and obtains MS. Heads off to GD, enters AG, clears AG finds broken Mirror, meets the sages. Heads off to meets ashei, acquires coral earring, catches reekfish, traverses snowpeak, meets yeto, enters SR, clears SR obtains first mirror shard. Heads off to SG, enters grove and enters TOT, clears TOT and obtains second mirror shard. Heads off to Kakariko, helps llia recover her memories, reawakens DR, obtains missing letters of sky book, obtains sky cannon, gets sky cannon fixed. Enters City in the sky, clears CITS, obtains final mirror shard. Repairs mirror of twilight, enters POT and battles Zant. Recovers fused shadow and kills Zant. Enters hyrule caslte, arrives at Ganon's chamber. Free's Zelda, defeats Ganon, teleported to Hyrule Field, fights ganon on horseback. Defeats ganon in sword duel. Midna is resurrected. Twilight mirror shatters and Link rides off on Epona.

Something that some times urks me is the fact that I don't really like getting introduced to new Links. I'd rather have a Link that is already experienced, one that I've come to know, continue his adventure. I really loved MM for that because it really felt like Link had grown. (Not so much in PH, TWW Link fell backwards in epicness)

But if the new Zelda is Older MM Link, Imma be freakin' excited. I'm rather sick of revisiting the same places over and over, but I'm hoping the new Zelda has a World Map as opposed to just Hyrule and borderlands. >_> Anywaaays, the most exciting thing to me is a chance for an already well-known experienced Link revisiting Hyrule. That's never happened before, and I think it'd be a sweet twist to what so many call Link's empty personality. A Zelda that starts with Link already idolized, already friends with Princess Zelda...already cool as heck. Mmmm...

First you accuse me of being ignorant on the grounds that I think I know everything that Nintendo will do. This is completely and obviously incorrect as I stated originally in my original post that those were my fears for the new Zelda, not that I knew that was what Nintendo wasn't going to do. If I have lately come across as making it seem that I know exactly how Nintendo are going to act, then its probably because I am (yet again) exaggerating for the sake of argument (whisper: you know post count and all that?)

By the way I never tried acting cool... What the hell is your problem? Your just like the other guy that I quoted, for you to then tell me that I'm an idiot for trying to "act cool." I think you are trying to belittle me for other reasons that I am unsure of. But yeah, I don't know what your problem is.

Lol, exactly. And I also think, besides MM, it allowed Link to do many things he'd never done before. Sumo Wrestling, wrangling, snow boarding, biting people's faces off...I mean, I was really amused by that.

Either way, I highly doubt the new Zelda's story will be a copy and paste of TP...nothing about this new game says Link doesn't have a say...YET.

I enjoyed TP just like that guy that you quoted and I was also SUPER addicted to it while it lasted... but it just has so many drawbacks. Drawbacks of things I was craving so much. I literally had the enemy variety, difficulty and side-quests on my mind when I was anticipating TP and sadly Nintendo said TP would have the most side-quests of any Zelda game, so you can imagine what I was thinking back then. And its pretty obvious why so many people were disappointed. Now saying that I was disappointed with TP doesn't mean I didn't like it - I highly enjoyed it =)

Nope. They won't recycle any stories, I really don't think we have to worry about that. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing OoT/MM Link again--after all, he IS the one I fell in love with! ;p

You can still change a story with the same character. The fact that his life pretty much started over can lead to all sorts of fun situations.

Well you obviously love him so much because of all the things he goes through. Seven years in the chamber... then goes back in time again, then leaves to go on a new journey after hes been made "a legend" and then goes through an extremely fulfilling quest in MM. Compared to the other Zeldas... he is the best Link there is. TP Link seems like nothing in comparison, as does TWW Link.

Yeah...I feel in love with him too, I think it'll be pretty sweet if he grows up with me.

They don't. But they shouldn't be completely disregarded like they were in TP, when in fact, MM set the standard for side-quests in Zelda games but this was never taken up by Ninty.

Every Zelda should AT LEAST have a handful of side-quests.

Magic Armor, heart pieces, gold bugs, poes souls. Those aren't side quests?

EDIT: Okay, you have 318 posts so your relatively new. Have you ever played Majora's Mask, the Zelda game?

EDIT: If you have you would know what I mean by "character side-quests." Like the Anju/Kafei side-quest, among others, that involved performing certain tasks to resolve the problems those characters faced. Whether or not the outcome was happy or sad.

Since when was tWW idolized? It was better than TP easily, and probably on level standing with OoT, but I don't ever remember anyone idolizing it as such...
