The Legend of Zelda, timetravelling?!
Think about it, it'd be a great concept. Though it has been used twice already, OoT and MM, it would be awesome to just focus on timetravelling overall through a whole Zelda game. In OoT, you went back and forth time 14 years to play as young and adult Link to solve certain puzzles. In MM, you went back in time just to replay the three days given to you.
Link having an item that allows him to timetravel back and forth in time, in the same place he's using the item, instead of going to a temple (OoT: Temple of Time) to be able to do it. We'd be solving puzzles by changing the past and altering the future as we play, and everything we do in the past will have effect on the future. Small or big effects, depends on what you do to mess things up. It'd be challenging, it'd require alot of logical thinking and alot of fun gameplay. We'd be able to choose what time (limits of course, going into the future a thousand years would be overkill) to travel to. I don't know, just a thought I had and I wanted to share it. Awesome stuff. |

Hey guys, lets rehash the same tired old concept again! After all, everyone knows innovation and originality are for chumps!

Re: The Legend of Zelda, timetravelling?!
Have you ever heard of this little handheld game called The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages? The main gameplay mechanic in that game is almost exactly what you are detailing. Two ages that are hundreds of years apart, that (by the end of the game, anyways) you can travel between nearly at will, though there are still some limitations. In essence though, what you have described is OoA.

Re: The Legend of Zelda, timetravelling?!
I've toyed with the idea of time travel in my story, though I don't think it will be something to be done at will, at may only mark the central point of the story, rather then being able to travel back and forth between the two times...
More like a 'turn back the hands of time' sorta scenario.

Re: The Legend of Zelda, timetravelling?!
Well, who knows. Maybe there could be a game where Link from one timeline stumbles upon another timeline. And maybe the presense of two timelines in a such a manner threatnes to destroy all existance, so Link has to find out someway to unite the timeslines by acting in the past so both worlds arn't cataclysmically anihallanted!!!!....that was just off the top of my head. Don't think about it too much.
