Re: Theme of the New Zelda Wii
no, what I mean is the game starting out that way and where people, including you, have little freedom but by the end you defeat the dictator

Re: Theme of the New Zelda Wii
The theme should be dark, by that I mean having a moral dilemma of how to deal with a wide-spread danger and who should make the decision for the Hyrulians(or some other race in the new one) and the impact of your choices on certain people (not in a Fable kind of way, this is LoZ). It doesn't necessarily have to be dark, but it can keep a catastrophy in the mix of the game to have everyone on their toes. Ideally, it should blow away MM, OoT, WW, and all the other previous games to make us all look down on our expectations and utterly marvel at the new one.

Re: Theme of the New Zelda Wii
That is very ideal. Probably too ideal. Nintendo, I pray that you prove me wrong.
And yes, this had better be dark. And epic. And infinitely better than TP.

Re: Theme of the New Zelda Wii
The main thing I want is to actually want to save the world/Hyrule/whatever. I want it to be compelling, MM was a very good start, the characters were so well done that you wanted to save them. Also I want to feel like I actually saved something. I think a darker and more epic atmosphere could help accomplish both of these, but I think the main things are the dialogue and characters. But! if making the game like that would result in sucky dungeons and controls and no sidequests, no thank you. But when I think about it, I really don't know what I want. Who would have ever said that they wanted a game like WW or MM, and they turned out great! (IMO) I hope to be surprised!

Re: Theme of the New Zelda Wii
MM proved that great characters and great controls/sidequests are not mutually exclusive.
