Re: Which would "ruin" zelda more?

Simplifying the game would make it boring when the game isn't it makes gamers want to keep playing otherwise we would get bored, it would be too easy.

Re: Which would "ruin" zelda more?

I've noticed that many people have recently been disappointed with the way that the Zelda series is progressing (or NOT progressing, I should say). I think that what the Zelda team needs to do is place a greater emphasis on the storyline. Twilight Princess did have a bit more of a backstory, but every Zelda game focuses mainly on gameplay. That's great, it's what makes the Zelda franchise stand out, but I really hope that Zelda Wii has a detailed, epic storyline.

What would really make me sad is a Zelda in a modern, technologically advanced setting. I look at Zelda as an escape from our industrial, crowded world. I like its natural, magical feel. I have high hopes for the next Zelda game...I hope I'm not let down.

Making Zelda Casual has already been done. But I think I would stop playing completely if it becasme futuristic...idk actually it might be a fun game...it depends how it turns out.

Re: Which would "ruin" zelda more?

1 and 8 are the same.

I think changing the genre would fail, because Zelda should be Zelda. Granted Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker are sweet, and I like changes to Zelda, but changing the genre would just suck.

Re: Which would "ruin" zelda more?

Dumbing down and simplifying the story is exactly what Zelda needs. My biggest beef with TP is the over abundance of plot. So what would ruin Zelda for me is taking the plot beyond what TP did with it.

Re: Which would "ruin" zelda more?

Dumbing down the stories would ruin it for me. They are some of the best stories in gaming, and very few games have reached the storytelling pedigree that Majora's Mask set.

Zelda is suppose to be for the medieval world of dragons, castles, magic etc etc etc... Like Merlin or something.

I know that there is a train introduced in ST, but trains aren't modern. Not steam trains anyway.

But to have Link in a world like FF would be kind of weird... Well in my opinion, it just damages the roots of what Zelda games are suppose to be like.

A futuristic Zelda would look loads different than FF7. Just because they have magic, doesn't mean that FF7 is a good example of what a futuristic Zelda would look like.

Don't look at other games and how they would look with Zelda themes, look at Zelda and think how it would advance

Q: The setting of the games hasn't really changed. Maybe the past or the future or sci-fi or a wildly different setting?

He's thought about things like putting Link in a modern setting or WWII settings, like how Link would react to being there. He's still trying to figure out how to get that in a game, however.
Lol, both Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma pondered a futuristic Zelda. Aonuma's thinking about WWII? So...random. X_x Miyamoto thought of a Terminator-like story concept for Link's Crossbow Training, but that was shut down. xD Seems to me like the developers have the minds a fanboy. Though many ideas are shut down during the development process. >_>

Q: What about adjustable difficulties for the hardcore players?

He understand the desire for varying difficulty, but the goal is to appeal to everyone instead of either-or.
Eiji Aonuma once again slaps down the idea of difficulty settings, what else is new. Source

In order of how bad it is (worst to more moderate), harmful things would be making it casual, dumbing down the story, and making spinoffs.

I don't think spinoffs are a bad thing. I mean, the Tingle game ain't exactly brilliance... But a spinoff could bring much needed maturity to Hyrule without ~contaminating~ the Zelda title.

Re: Which would "ruin" zelda more?

I voted for dumbing down and simplifying the story. The stories one of the main parts of the whole LoZ series, to me. A LoZ mmo wouldn't be too bad to me, it has some potential, but I doubt it'd be done. The races are there, professions (ranger, magician/wizard/elementalist, warrior, etc.), a vast Hyrule and maybe Termina. I don't believe it'd happen honestly.

Re: Which would "ruin" zelda more?

If they made the playable character female or non-Link... It just would not be Zelda anymore... it just wouldn't.

I also think that the story is a very important part of the games. Probably even as important as gameplay if the series wants to seriously compete with other games.

and ya... The series should never go casual... ever.
