Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
I'm being serious here. Until a while ago, I was seriously against Voice Acting.
Now, I'm actually willing to give it a chance, as long as it's kept inside cutscenes and I can still have my dialogue boxes in and out of cutscenes. However, I don't support it yet. What I am, is neutral, because, while I'm willing to give VA a chance, I realize that the Time, Money and Disk Space that would be required to hire and integrate good voice acting could actually be used to better the gameplay. A small increase in the quality of gameplay easily contributes more to a good Zelda game than the best voice acting anyday. What about you? Are you FOR, NEUTRAL or AGAINST Voice Acting? EDIT: By "Voice Acting", I meant the whole package. Whole dialogues voice-acted. Whether you interpret that as "including dialogue outside of cutscenes" is up to you, as I don't give a damn. Quote:

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
The only people who don't want voice acting are the whiners.
You know, the people who moan when a game comes out that's too similar to a previous title, but cringe at any sort of hinting at meaningful change like a shift away from the lure of Hyrule, a change in time period, a gameplay structure overhaul or voice acting. |

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
Well, saying how cinematic scenes in Zelda are getting (Like TWW and TP) and how they'll probably only get more cinematic...I would very much enjoy voice acting so that I can watch a cutscene as oppose to reading it. =\
the lack of voice acting actually bothered me in TP...which is quite a shock. But it just bothered me that in scenes where you can't control the text scroll, xD I couldn't read fast enough to pay attention to the visuals. (edit) ROFL, it makes me laugh how easily one can be converted to possibly wanting voice acting. I mean, some of you guys hate voice acting in Zelda when it's never been done before. You really can't judge it unless it was done in an official Zelda game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DrNhbh2NWw I admit that this is pretty cool. This is awesome too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jvr6m...eature=related

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
I'd rather not have voice acting, personally.
Not because I'm clinging to old games, not because I like imagining what characters sound like, but because it's a really risky move. For me, I like really being absorbed into each cutscene. With diologue boxes, that's fine. All I'm judging is the text. But if you add voice acting--which, knowing it will have to be translated to English (and hopefully everyone here realizes that English voice translations can be very, very bad)--I'm going to end up paying so much attention to the bad voice acting that I won't even enjoy the cutscene. It's like what Seen said. Now, don't get me wrong. Voice acting--if done WELL--could improve Zelda games by miles. But if done badly, I get the feeling it would ruin the cutscenes, and those are usually my favorite parts of any game. It's just too big a risk.

I mean, it does, but it's not the same Zelink as it is in the other games. And it's still considered Tetlink in the end. But it's still officially Zelink, right? Ugh. My brain hurts. Drawing brings up my happy meter by ten points! Help support this by looking at my artwork on my deviantART page. You can do that at kaybee2.deviantart.com. |

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
I'm fine with it if they chose extremely good voice actors.
But right now I'm neutral. |

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
Good voice acting would greatly improve not only the audio aspect of the cinematics, but the video as well if done right. Case in point, in TP, many scenes would not progress until you advanced the dialog box, and if that were done away with, it would certiainly help the fluid cinematic aspect.
Funny that most of the people against voice acting aren't actually against it, just worried about the quality. |

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
If a Zelda game were to have full voice acting, then I'd rather have all the voice acting happen during the cutscenes, and nowhere else. I don't like skipping through dialogue and hearing them say fragments of words or sentences; it's funny at first, but then it gets really stupid.
And I still do not want Link to speak... at least, not outside a few/one phrase(s), like in tWW. And I don't want bad voice acting, either, but that's pretty obvious. |

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
I'm like alot of people, I want VA just not when it comes to Link.
I have to disagree with you about the dialogue boxes though, I would at least like the option to turn them off (only when VA is beings used of course) because I'm a fast reader and always finish before the actor is done... I liked the video you linked, except for the fact that the speaking voice and the laughing voice didn't match, however that definately wouldn't happen in a game. EDIT: Looking at the poll we have members pretty evenly spread over both persuasions.

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
It sounds like the poll should have had a "Yes, but only if Link still doesn't talk"

Re: Who is still opposed to Voice Acting?
Yes, voiceacting. It's all good. It helps us figure out what people sound like, and helps us tell how to pronounce some names. There's no reason to not have coice acting, especially NPCs.
