Idea - Nightmare

Once more I come bearing an idea that, while mostly intended for my story, could also be considered in furture installments of the Zelda Series.

My idea involves the reemergance of the Character of Nightmare from Link's Awakening.

While I do speak mostly in terms of my story, I feel that the character can still be applied in future installments, not even in the way I suggest but these are my ideas and suggestions anyways. (Spoilers Ahead, perhaps)

::: My story takes place following TP, including what I believe to be the Death of Ganondorf and his loss of the Triforce of Power.

Now, while my story takes place in the Child Timeline, LA is widely considered a part of the Adult Timeline, however, though I base my use of the entity of Nightmare off the LA one, one could say its safe to assume an identicial or similar entity may be present in the Child timeline as well.

Now, as I base what I know of Nightmare off LA, I will also expand largely, but so far here is what we know. Nightmare was the final boss, and though its been sometime since I last played, the game didn't go into much depth of Nightmare. However, I assume Nightmare to be a somewhat weak entity in itself, but quite powerful in terms of its realms, of dreams and nightmares were it resides.

When the Wind Fish falls into its sleep, and Link is carried into the dream, Nightmare is able to project his strength. However, from the name Nightmare I can also assume that its power is linked not only through dreams, but the darker aspects reflect in dreams, such as fear, vices and our darker being. However, in LA Nightmare, whose power resides in fear (I assume) is no match for Link, who promptly defeats Nightmare.

In my story however, I am playing with the idea of the entity of Nightmare, once more taking the role as villian. Its perfect for my story, not only would it distort the line between fantasy and reality to the characters, it can help reflect a darker setting and being in Hyrule. But, as mentioned above Nightmare would not be powerful except in dreams, with the presense of fear...

That is where Ganondorf's death comes to play; with him dead, and the Triforce no longer in his grasp, who knows what ancient evils makeknow of it and seeks its power, and who knows what it may allow for them to do.

So the entity of Nightmare influences events and characters throughout the story; playing on fear and superstition, through dreams and visions so that it may influence the characters and drive them towards its own goals; that is what is already happening at my stories beginning, if I settle with this idea...

However, I also wonder what potential Nightmare has if it attains the Triforce of Power? Ultimately I concluded that an evil, refined to only dreams and terrors, could finally project itself into reality, manipulate the weak and play on a characters goods and evils, and cause choas that will make the player ponder their own morals...

Of course this is all speculation on my part. Perhaps I'm overthinking Nightmare to much and am just overinflating a character never meant for much...

But really have you ever seen a villian that you though 'his time shouldn't be up, theres so much potential...

Do you think Nightmare should solely be refined to the Windfish's dream in LA, or do you think it has alot more to offer in future installments or ideas, anyways this is just my speculation and ideas.
