New Zelda to have a deeper story?
In a recent IGN article:
"Speaking to Wired, legendary game creator Shigeru Miyamoto says he likes to keep his Mario games light on story and focus on gameplay, while leaving storytelling to the Zelda franchise. " Here's a link to the article: http://wii.ign.com/articles/994/994699p1.html They're giving Metroid other M a story, so why not Zelda?

Lol, yeah. Mario is not one for storytelling.
And Zelda has always had a deep story, so i don't see how this indicates an even deeper story thant before.

Not really, if you compare the story in most Zelda games to other games it pales in comparison.

Re: New Zelda to have a deeper story?
Link's Awakening had a deep story, I'm pretty sure it was the only one. It also is my favorite as yet. A deeper story would be welcome.
Now don't get me wrong, Majora's Mask had great characters and setting, but its story was quite average. And Alec: Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time? Seriously? What are your qualifications for depth? |

Another thing was the interaction between Link and Marin, how the creators made it so that they were seen as falling in love; the dream fact tore the love apart, giving more depth. To learn that someone you love was a dream is truely deep, sad, and heartbreaking. The way Marin would mention to Link about leaving the island and singing her song across the world, now that was deep. And in the end, the island was truly a dream, the people were never real. And then Link looks up after waking up in the middle of the ocean, and hears Ballad of the Windfish as the last sign that Marin got her wish, that she lived on past the dream to sing, now that was truly deep. Link's Awakening was among the deepest, saddest Zelda title. It is in there as one of my three favourite Zelda titles. I hope that they make another game with that deepness... |

Then you have TP which has almost no story at all, I played it and to me it felt as if it had just about the same amount of story to it as Super Mario Galaxy.

Re: New Zelda to have a deeper story?
Link's Awakening as the deepest? Please, Majora's Mask is the only game in the series to deserve that accolade. Think about it: the game is nearly a decade old and people are still finding new aspects in the game's story. It is, quite honestly, the most story-driven Zelda title ever.
Anyway, I want to see a deeper story. It's one of the most important aspects of a game in my opinion. Besides, it would be interesting to see a Zelda game with a story as deep as MM's.

Re: New Zelda to have a deeper story?
Well, I actually think a lot of Zelda games are deep...Infact I can think of plenty of times I shed a tear (or a lot of tears) while playing Zelda. The ones that stick out the most would be LA, OoT, MM, TWW and TP. TP is actually the only Zelda game to win an award for it's storyline...crazy huh, (considering the fact that many of you didn't care for it)
On a side note, the director of Mario Galaxy used to be the guy who wrote the storylines from LA through to MM. But he left around TWW's development to work on the Mario series. Really sad for the Zelda series...that guy can seriously make some deep stuff. In LA he wrote the entire story of Koholint and in Majora's Mask he wrote a lot of the script, but in the other games he worked on Miyamoto held him back. Zelda's in Kyoto, but he moved with Mario in Tokyo...Makes me so sad. D= Good read about Koizumi

Or the beginning? Or anything not seen in the whopping two trailers and single tiny demo? |

Ocarina of Time however does have an impressive story. The way everything is tied together over the two time periods is something quite out of the ordinary. Clearly OoT didn't have the depth it could have had, but that's more of a time issue then anything else. Quote:
