Re: Do you think there should be a futuristic Zelda game?
Let me explain this one last time: this concept is not the only possible outcome. Neither is pointy-eared GTA3 or HALO. Zelda can just plain have technology and still feel the same.
What you're showing here is closed-mindedness, stubbornness, and lack of creativity. A setting built for a Zelda game would obviously be a setting built to work in Zelda's style, not just sticking the characters in an industry-standard backdrop. Your argument is that what you propose as a futuristic Zelda would suck. What we are proposing is nothing like what you just put forth. |

It should only be a tad bit futuristic.
Not enough to ruin the storyline though. |

Around the 1300 or 1400s? The era of Pike and Shot? 1600 or 1700? Still about a hundred or so years from Napoleon and large scale military campaigns, but still the age of the line. 1800s or the Victorian Era? Mass armies, advancing weaponry and industrial setting. Personally I set mine around a 1700 setting, with musketry, the world is expanding it would seem and being explored yet it still remains that their is mystery abound and superstition abroad.

Re: Do you think there should be a futuristic Zelda game?
If there were to be a futuristic Zelda game, there should be only one, non-canonical version. BUT, there should not be guns. that is not in the Zelda tradition. somehow the "Master Gun" does not sound as epic as the "Master Sword"
All and All, I think it would be an intersting twist on the story, and I have often wondered what Hyrule would look like in several thousand years. would there be cars? airplanes? Trains? An internet? And what would the Gorons, Zoras, Hylaians, Dekus, Gerudos be like. It would be cool if there were ruins of old buildings from the previous games. ex: Lon Lon Ranch, Gerudo's Fortress. What would Hyrule castle town be like. Would it be a massive, futuristic metropolis? Would the castle still be there? Would the temple of time still stand? Will the old clash with the new? Perhaps we shall see... |

Guns at the time were usually so inaccurate that many battles remained decided by bayonet or saber charges... Hell, the pike was still in use by the Swedish army by 1700s... But no, the development of guns and cannons would naturally mean we can say goodbye to the master sword ![]() Though once more I speak on behalf of a not so distant future, while many still presume a 'futuristic' Zelda to be a copy of 2001: A Space Odyssey

Maybe they can make it like afro samurai. I don't know if you guys know the afro samurai series. Well everything is samurai style, like the buildings, clothing, swordfighting but there are computers and high tech tools they use. It's a mix of high tech and samurai theme. Maybe they can do thesame.

Re: Do you think there should be a futuristic Zelda game?
NO! because then link would be no match for enemies who have some sort of super guns, especialy if link just had a sword and shield. and with out the master sword he is not the hero of time. i guess they could make a master laser gun or something but i think it should stay as being something that took place long ago...

Other points of interest: Enemies would not have super guns. There is no reason they need to have super guns. There would be no "Master Laser Gun". We're so far overdue for laser guns going off old science fiction that it should be apparent that we'll likely never have them. |

Re: Do you think there should be a futuristic Zelda game?
About the whole gun vs sword thing. What if at the beginning part of the game links is weak to enemies with guns and lasers but later after getting the master sword he is able to chop/deflect the bullets before they reach him using his sword? It might seem weird that link can chop faster than a bullet but he is holding (one of) the most powerful weapons in the zelda universe.
