Possible story for new Zelda?

Soooo guys at 4chan delivered this picture along with crazy ideas, and yes this is the picture shown by Miyamoto to the press that was supposed to be secret.

The theory was that the girl is actually the Master Sword, taking into account the head is the tip and the gem in her chest the gem that has the hilt of the sword.

What do you guys think? we have a year to speculate.

No particular feelings about Fairy = Master Sword. I see where it's coming from, it would be pretty interesting, it's just not something that's screaming to me.

Link definitely reminds me more of OoT Link despite being drawn in TP's style (look at his hair), so I think I'm getting a "OoT Link's life in the alternate history" vibe- it'd technically be a "new era" of Hyrule (and not a sequel to TP).

Why does this sound so familiar?

Since when has the series ever dealt with Kami though? LoZ never makes any references to Shinto. At least none that I was aware of.

But I still think people are pulling this out of nowhere. Zelda pre-release speculation is always pretty hilarious though.

Are you fluent in Japanese, and have you played the Japanese versions? The "Dark World" is called "Makai" in Japan, and Ganon is a class of being known specifically as a "Maou" and his monsters are his "Mazoku." IIRC other terms such as the ones used for the Sacred Realm, "Shrine Maidens," etc. are directly taken from Japanese cultural concepts.

The English versions won't reference Shinto because they're localized for North American/European audiences, who by and large do not practice and would not understand references to Shinto.

Fans are unstopable...they just announced that Zelda Wii is in development and fans leak a picture.

Meh, it's fun as long as we're open-minded about it and don't take it too seriously. I honestly just see a character recycled from TWW and a Link design that seems to blend OoT and TP- I can make some minor guesses from there, so why not?

Yeah it may sound stupid but as Slime said its pre Zelda speculation and there is at least 7 months till the game comes out so yeah we want to speculate even if its stupid just to keep our Zelda needs satisfied.

ok, calm down i was just saying...it doesn't mean i don't enjoy reading your speculation and stuff.

It looks pretty official and usually 4chan after joking about it tells if its fake or not which it hasn't said.

Also if we remember what someone said like Kotaku or IGN the pic is pretty much what they described.

The picture is official, it was on the E3 Press Conference site.

Now, to a picture I posted already...

Girl as the Master Sword isn't entirely baseless conjecture. It at least is way more credible than the 'Midna is MS' theory we had before TP. The design of the girl is very deliberately similar to the Master Sword. So, perhaps either she is the Master Sword, or she has some kind of other connection to it.

I think that would be awesome if the Master Sword had a physical form. I just like the idea of that a lot for some reason. Maybe as a humanoid form she could tell you lore of Hyrule that we haven't heard yet, or tell you of the heroes who have wielded the sword before you, there's a lot of possibilities, I'm just theory-crafting.

Alright, here's my theory. I already posted part of it in the topic about the picture.

My idea is that since Link appears to be older he could already be an established hero. Already known as a hero of Hyrule instead of living amongst normal people his whole life. This story, instead of being the standard "rise of a hero" would be more of a "test of a hero." The new Link would come across the Master Sword early on in the game and find a partner in the spirit of the sword (see the next paragraph).

Now, here's what I think about the girl in the picture. The Master Sword is a magical sword imbued with the power to defeat evil. Where do you suppose the sword could get that power from? It may be a little far-fetched but perhaps...a fairy? I believe fairies are beings of light, a Fairy Queen would certainly be a powerful entity of light. Perhaps possessing the power to repel evil? The creators of the sword wanted to make a sword that could defeat the evil they faced, right? My theory is that they captured a fairy queen and sealed her within the sword to give the sword the power to smite evil. The girl pictured would be the fairy spirit of the Master Sword. Hence the reason she looks like the Fairy Queen of TWW and bears a resemblance to the sword. It creates sort of a tragic story because a girl had to be essentially sacrificed. It sounds like something Nintendo would do if you ask me.
