Of course not-- just like sailing didn't drop walking and wolf form didn't drop human form.

It's forcing a new aspect, but that doesn't mean it'll push any thing out.

It's not like one disk could possibly hold enough space for a sword move set and a fists move set. I don't know what I was thinking.

Let's say, in theory, that the girl is the sword.

What, then? Is she not allowed to interact with Link in any combat situation? Because God knows the Hero of Time can't just PUNCH someone. No. He's not a combat expert, you crazy people.

Well, that explains it then. The disappearance of the sword does speculate that the girl is indeed related to the sword that Link is suppose to handle.

Even Miyamoto said so. :3

I guess it's starting to make sense, but we can't make our assumptions concrete yet since the game is no where being released.

Who ever started the whole "fist fighting" bs is stupid.

Actually I would very much prefer link to use some of his inherent hand to hand combat skills in this title. If in fact the spirit woman we see is actually the mastersword then there will be moments when link is sword less. Why not let Link duke it out like a real man, have a set of sidequests that teach Link new suplex's or what not similar to the ghost sword master in TP.

I just want to start by saying that I support the theory that the girl is the master sword, or at least closely related to it.

But that's not why I've decided to post here.

There's something in almost 100 posts which nobody here has mentioned: Link was holding his shield on his left arm.

Quite interesting, considering that Nintendo considers the GC version of Twilight Princess the proper version. (thus keeping him always left-handed... until now, perhaps?)

Although the girl obviously resembles the Fairy from WW, I have to say that she has some connection to the Master Sword. I'm not saying that she is the Master Sword, (using some sort of living creature as a sword just seems weird) but she could just be a spirit or goddess representing the Master Sword, just as Din, Farore, and Nayru represent the Triforce. This might be confirmation of the theory that some have of a fourth main diety (the upside down triangle in the middle of the triforce). Either way, for us to be debating an image is pointless. We could all be wrong. There's no way to know. We'll just have to wait unfortunately...

How would it work? The motionplus is only for the remote, so would Link be fighting one-handed?

Besides, sword combat with various items thrown in is far more entertaining. I'd like to see items that are able to seamlessly be integrated into battle between sword attacks.

If they go for a prequal of all prequals, then this could be the introduction of the MS
However, I doubt Nintendo would do that as it would be a bit too cool `

Miyamoto himself stated that this picture has something to do wit the games plot, so it is relevant.

I'm really sure that the Fairy=Sword theory is true. In almost all pre-release concept art for Zelda games, Link is holding a sword or some type of weapon. Yet in this one, either there is no sword, or the fairy very well is it.

I really hope they dopn't pull an MM on this and recycle all the models from TP, that'd make me a saaaad panda.

I don't think they will. They only did that in MM because they had no time. However, I do hope they pull an MM and give us the next best game ever.

Holy crap, after feeling like crud last night this was an AWESOME surprise to wake up to. That looks incredible, and the little girl resembles the Great Fairy Queen from the Wind Waker a lot!
