With TP we knew from pretty early that Link transformed into a wolf, that wasn't a spoiler it was just a game mechanic.

Now for Z-Wii (Zii) we know that this girl spirit is the mastersword, that is simply a game mechanic, we know nothing about her narrative, if we have to repower her, or simply find her, or even rescue her from the clutches of an evil wizard.

I've seen people saying "No, that girl can't be the Master Sword or the spirit of the Master Sword"...but if you think about it, her being the spirit of the Master Sword makes sense.

The Master Sword chooses its master, and since it's pretty ridiculous for an inanimate object to be sentient enough to "pick its master" or have a mind of its own, having a spirit inside of it would mean that the spirit inside of the sword chooses who its master will be.

It could be that too. I'd actually like to see that, since it's what I've suspected for years. x3

*Claps* that makes sence. The only reason i see she kinda-sorta-looks like the "queen of the fairies" is because she is the "embodiment" of the sword (maybe its spirit? maybe metamorphosis?) or could could just had been a coincidence. but there is NO WAY she looks like the master sword "by coincidence".

I just want to complement you on how you used the game to prove that the sword does have some "say" in the game. It just strengthened the "sword=lady in picture" IMO.

Miyamoto's confirmation that the game takes place in a "different era" means that it's not a sequel to TP, so obviously it could take place anywhere on the timeline. Heck, Spirit Tracks isn't even out yet so we have no clue where that game could take place either (to my knowledge, it doesn't seem like anyone knows much about Spirit Tracks' story).

All 3D Zelda's have been almost directly connected so far though, with OOT being the base of the following 3D games (MM being the direct sequal, WW followed the evens in the adult timeline, twilight princess pretty much certainly following the events of the child timeline). Four Swords Adventures was the most fun Zelda game to play, even though it's far from the best one. It was to much a party game...
I want a game like that, but more serious like TP/WW/OoT

What I think will happen:

You know how in ST, there's that phantom character which acts like a companion? I think that this girl will play a similar role, but she will have far more depth gameplay-wise. She might act as some kind of AI-controlled combat partner, using magic to help you in combat while you use other items and magic. Then, when you swing the wiimote, she turns into the MS in half a second and becomes your weapon.

After all, Miyamoto did say something about Zelda being thought of as an RPG with simpler controls...

Oh now that sounds interesting.

Again Prince of Persia comes to mind, I can definately see something similar to PoP '08 happening to the combat in this new game. Like having it optional to use her as the sword or splitting up to attack the enemy as a team. Maybe some enemies require that approach. Going from her appearance I think it's safe to say she's capable of using magic like Elika, so it would be choosing for a magical approach or a weapon based approach to the enemy.

This new approach could open all kinds of new possibilities for the combat in Zelda.

Something tells me Miyamoto hasn't used a gimmicky gameplay mechanic in this game yet, and the thing that we know so far is a pretty great idea. I really have no idea why you'd say that.
