![]() ^ Fixed. The fanboy in me has been reignited. How long that'll last, I don't know. But I will say that I am very much on board with this idea. Miyamoto went out of his way to point out that Link wasn't holding a sword - it can't be a coincidence. The 'sentient sword' is not a new concept, and it is one that I am a very big fan of. I'll be paying close attention to this as it develops. |

Re: Zelda Wii!
Well at least the world will be correct this time around and not mirrored. I don't mind a right-handed Link but the Mario Kart-ish mirrored world was ridiculous and unnecessary

Re: Zelda Wii!
FINALLY.
This is going to be the wait for TP all over again, I only hope the results are better... Anyways, about the picture. Other than being frikkin' excited about it, I think the theory about a 'Master Sword's Spirit Girl' would be a great idea for a new zelda. The only thing that confuses me a bit is that the 'spirit-girl' is wearing a pointy hat that has nothing to do with the appearance of the Master Sword. The idea of a more mature Link sounds great, but older? Hmmm...idk. Like someone said before, Link is supposed to be a 'young hero'. What I mean is, I hope the make something completely different, something that we've never seen before on a Zelda game, but that they don't ruin it by changing the classic Zelda details.

Re: Zelda Wii!
My theory is right now, that Zelda Wii is going to heavily use the first person perspective. There were rumors about this since the release of Link's Crossbow Training, where Miyamoto stated that this game is supposed to be a bridge to more first person games. Plus the first person perspective would be the perfect choice for more MotionPlus powered gameplay.
So, what does the artwork have to do with first person gameplay? Well, it's been mentioned a lot by now, the girl/fairy/whatever looks like the physical incarnation of the Master Sword. But why should Nintendo want to do that? The story of a Zelda game is ALWAYS developed around the gameplay elements, which they want to add to the game. I love the Midna example in this case, Midna was created, because they wanted to have a Wolf Link. But a Wolf Link alone looked boring, so Miyamoto suggested to have something ride on it - that's how Midna and her story was born in the end. I guess, in this case it's pretty similar. So far they used the 3rd person perspective, because it was nice to look at Link and it was the best way to distinguish the different forms of Link in the N64 games (young Link, old Link, Deku Link, Zora Link, etc.) So, but now if you use the first person perspective it would be boring for Zelda gamers, because there isn't anything interesting to look at all the time, you can't see how Link does his fancy sword moves with his full body and so on. That's why they needed something interesting in front of the player and what would be more interesting in the case of a Zelda game than sword, that is actually alive? That's a freaking cool idea and I believe, that's how Nintendo came up with it.

Subtitle for the new Wii Zelda
I really like the idea of the phantom looking girl as the Master Sword
. However, we can only assume she is the Master Sword since she looks as to be designed quite similar to it, and that Link is shown without a sword in the massive poster. I can't wait to see what the subtitle of the game is. What are some possible subtitles for the new Wii game?-Spirit of the Sword? ![]() |

Re: Zelda Wii!
Re-read the interview: Miyamoto tells us that Link missing his sword is "a hint," and from the context, it seems to be a hint at "the story setting" of this game.
The only possibilities that scream to me right now based on Link missing his sword being significant are: 1) This game is set before the Master Sword exists 2) This game is an[other] adaptation of the Seal War, and Link has to find the Master Sword (as the SNES ALttP manual told) 3) This game takes place in OoT Link's child history, after he becomes an adult, and he has to defeat Ganon without the Master Sword 4) This game takes place after TWW, where the Master Sword is "lost" (Link has no sword at the end of TWW or PH, something not true in any other game)

Re: Zelda Wii!
I'm happy to see something for Zelda Wii finally. I was at first when nothing was announced, but this is good enough. And this appears to be a new Link which I'm happy about. I think its a different one because 1. Miyamoto said it was in a new era. and 2. because in the pic he appears to have the Oot Link style hair again.
