I think if they are to use an instrument in a Zelda game in the future...

It should be used as a weapon. Not like hit enemies over the head, with it but use the songs as weapon spells. It seems like all the instruments are for are just warping around, with the occasional awesome use ( WW's controlling of the statues, medli, and makar to beat the temple). An example could be like as song like "Ballad of the Barrage" If you played it, a barrage of notes/music would hit the enemy. These could even be used as an alternative to items in dungeons. Not all the items of dungeons, but maybe a couple of em. They also wouldn't be too overpowered. They could just have the power of an item.

For this to work, it would be kind of a hassle to play a song, wait 10 seconds for the "song played" animation, then the spell. They could make it like a quick selection. It could be placed where you would put your normal items (bow, boomerang, etc.), and you could just press that button, and it would play the song, without all the extra animations. or if this is for wii, and if they used a wind-waker esque baton, you could run around the enemy/ boss, while quickly conducting the melody. This would also add some difficulty to the games as well.

The main reason why I brought this up is because it seems like even though the game is named after an item, it really shouldn't be. Even though the windwaker was used throughout the entire game, it wasn't like the master sword in power. They might as well name both OOT and WW "The Legend of Zelda: The Master Sword" I think that the windwaker/ ocarina/ other instruments should hold the same power as your arsenal of weapons.

Re: I think if they are to use an instrument in a Zelda game in the future...

Using instruments for attack is horrible if you ask me...

The music and their instruments, if you ask me, are symbols of peace and harmony... Sweet ocarina melodies, songs that heal the spirit, songs that bring a light rain and wash away darkness, songs that bring a new day or lay to rest an old one... Such instruments, particularlly the ones used by Link are great because unlike the rest of his invetory, it is an item aquired by heart, from friends, allies...

I feel the Wind Waker was a perfect name, Link was afterall the Hero of the Winds, and it was instrumental (PUN! ) in his journey... plus, the name itself holds a certain awe and mystique, while the Master Sword is so familiar, it just lacks that certain aspect...

Any instrument with magical powers (Ocarina, Wind Waker, Deku Pipes, ect.) have no place for violence on the field of battle...

Re: I think if they are to use an instrument in a Zelda game in the future...

These instruments are supposed to be sacred, and I don't think there's a place for violence.

On the contrary, the Sun's Song in OoT paralyzed ReDeads, which was like repelling evil. This was a decent idea. I would like to see something minor like this brought back. Kind of a light versus shadow kind of feel.

But I really feel that the instruments should not be used for violence, and should not be used as that much of an earthly tool.

As far as the Master Sword goes...if one game was called Loz: the master sword...couldn't they all have been the same darn thing?

Re: I think if they are to use an instrument in a Zelda game in the future...

Something about hurling musical notes at enemies seems a bit too..... childish. No offense, but I really wish Nintendo would keep the Zelda franchise geared towards more mature audiences. I mean, obviously they aren't going to contain explicit material and whatnot, but they just shouldn't be completely degraded to comic mischief and the likes.

As for a musical weapon, I don't think that'd be very useful. I mean, all the instruments in the previous Zelda games have stopped combat entirely for you to orchestrate the song. If that were made into a real combat strategy, it'd probably only be useful as an escape tactic of sorts, not really a full on weapon. Plus, if you were whipping it out every five seconds to fight of enemies (hurr hurr), don't you think it'd get really monotonous to use it?

I disagree, but I'd love for items like Din's Fire to re-appear. That was an awesome item, y'know.

How would they make it work with the combat? :S
The enemies wouldn't just watch Link play a tune in the middle of a fight. Link playing whilst moving and using his sheild would be impressive though

It's pretty much "COME BACK HERE I NEED TO HIT YOU WITH MY OCARINA MUSIC NOTES!"
... It's not a bright idea...

Piano of Time anyone?
anyway i dont see the point of attacking with an instrument unless you call something with a song and it attacks for you.

Unless it's a flute sword, I see little point to such a thing.

My initial reaction to an instrument being used as weaponry is weary. I don't think it would work well at all, but who knows? If it is ever used in a game, I'll wait until I actually play it to judge.

I'm sorry but that is a terrible idea. I know that zelda has a fantasy setting and that tons of things are possible, but an attack that shoots music notes at enemies is just stupid.

I agree. Now I wouldn't mind a game where Link had an instrument that could control some of the elements as we've seen in a few Zelda games: summoning rain (OoT), change direction of wind (tWW), make vines grow (OoT, OoA, tMC), shake the earth (ALttP), and summoning flames (ALttP, OoT), these things could work well in solving puzzels.

Now as for the idea you were going for Jalio_the_Brave, I know your heart was in the right place, but music is something that has only been used offensively for one enemy: Pols Voice.
