Cool New Dungeon themes in Future games

allright, i had some ideas for temples/dungeons for WW2 or any other future zelda games....add your own to this list

****These temples were formerly places where gatherings could be held, and prayers to be made etc, but were taken over by Ganon's evil, when completed, they would be restored to their original state....i only wish they could have done this with OoT...the Forest Temple would have looked so good restored...

The Temple of the Sun-Built by the Hylians, Used to have well lit halls and large, beautiful, and elaborate rooms, but now is taken over by darkness... Only accessible during the day/when the sun is shining. It would be a great golden tower on the eastern(the sun rises here) side of the field (if its land based).

The Temple of the Moon-Used to be more mysterious. This tower is identical to its sister, the Temple of the Sun, only Silver. It would take the western (the sun sets here) side of the feild

***The two temples would be the final temples on Link's quest. Once completed, he would seal the jewel (sun=Ruby, Moon=Sapphire) in the top of the tower. Once re-sealed, it would form a gateway to the sacred realm, where he could face Ganon and his temple once and for all.

The Temple of the Mountains-A cavern, maybe some lava areas with a huge, grand and elaborate cliff-face entrance

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

OK, more ideas...

Ruin Temple: This could take place in an ancient city, perhaps...the temple itself would be a large centerpiece of the city (when it exsisted) the whole teple would be a falling apart, old, dusty ruin that when was completed would collapse...you would have to escape the collapsing yourself...

Ice Temple: This would be similar to the the ice cavern in OoT, only a lot bigger and have more puzzles and stuff...........kinda a cross between Ice Cavern and Snowhead...

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

I'd like to see Vaati's Palace of the Wind from Four Swords, in full 3D. That would be amazing.

For those of you who don't know, it was basically a floating island fortress thing. Think "Sky Garden" from Secret of Gaia.

And Hyrule Castle... we had a dungeon of that in LttP, but I'd like to expand on that. Make it a full-fledged dungeon, add a few Forest Temple-like courtyards, just... expand.

And instead of having a Temple of the Sun and a Temple of the Moon... combine the two. Maybe add stars in there somewhere. Make turning it from day to night a hgue part of the place.

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

Wow yeah, that sounds good. So like, you can only do certain things during the day, and others during the night? Make use of the Sun's Song and all that.

I love these temple ideas you have. Any else get the feeling that Dargon Roost was a re-hash of the Fire Temple? Likewise Forbidden Woods was Woodfall Dungeon? They just seemed like updated versions to me.

I'd like something really unique, and make them enormous, like they were in A Link to the Past. That game had the best dungeons, I think. Each one was different in its own way, huge, and the bosses were great.

And the Woodfall Temple was just like the Forest Temple, and I haven't gotten there yet, but I assume the temple in the Great Bay will be just like the Water Temple

Haha, yeah it is pretty much. Lots of water level based puzzels (though nowhere near as difficult as the Water Temple).

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

I would like to see maybe the master sword in a dungeon, maybe not actually IN the dungeon, but maybe like Ganon's castle in OoT, where the barrier is around a hedge maze with the sword in the center, and the whole place is like a circle shape, sort of.

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

I like the Sun and Moon temple ideas. The Sun temple would be a giant tower in a desert in the east. And would have lots of mirrors to reflect light. The item could be the mirror shield. The moon dungeon would be on an island in the center of a lake. The itme moons pearl. And then there would be a third. Except instead of the moon or the sun it is based off of stars. And it would be on a mountain. The item would be something important. And you could be these three temples in any order. Then you go into the Dark World.

Good idea.

I also agree with l-o-s's idea about a 3D Vaatis palace. That would be awesome too. As well as like some Hyrulian ruins. As for me. At the moment I can't think of any interesting dungeons.

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

The Sun/Moon combination temple sounds kind of like the Stone Tower Temple in Majora's Mask...which is the best temple ever made BTW We definitely need more unique dungeons like that, although I don't mind them throwing in elemental dungeons etc. now and then.

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

How about some kind of evil citadel? Except, kind of like this: you get captured, and you have to escape, but there are a bunch of torture chambers between your cell (you have to find stuff in there to pick the lock) and the gate to get out. You have to get past the guards, kind of like in the forsaken fortress, but instead of going back to your cell, they take everything you have, put you directly onto the rack or some other torture devise, then send you to a different cell each time you are caught so there is no set way to escape. Not quite a dungeon, but close enough, IMO.

As for the combination Sun/Moon thing, how about this: at night it becomes the tower of the Moon, and during the day, the tower of the Sun? Also, maybe at night, smaller 'towers of the stars' appear randomly around the Moon tower.

Maybe you can only enter at dusk and dawn as well? And you set the time in the game, like in Pokemon G/S, where you can only do stuff on certain days (like there is a monday Sun/Moon set-up, tuesday, wednesday, etc...) and you can only beat that specific dungeon over the course of a week, the same week, and if you forget a day you have to start over next Monday...Oh, and about my pokemon knowledge, my 9-year-old brother has it.

Whenever anyone here mentioned this moon and sun idea, I immediatly thought to Starfox Adventures.... Gah... which of course is masterfully copied in heart and spirit from OoT... Not hat the rest of it was much good except for the famuiliarity aspect.

I'd like to see the internal of Hyule castle done in dungeon form again. I'm really low on ideas, honestly, i'd rather be suprised most of the time.

One thing that i want to see that isn't a dungeon though would be the Lost woods as a full fledged forest down in a similiar manner as the place in MMwitht he seahorse and all.

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

Do you remember those beta shots of the Lost Woods, where it was a proper forest? That looked incredible, and is much better than a bunch of hollow tree trunks.

I'm crossing all my fingers and toes that TWW2 is in fact A Link to the Past's land (thus helping the timeline a tad), because the Lost Woods would look incredible in that game, especially cel-shaded.

But I'm pretty certain it'll be another "sea based" game. Much as I liked that element, it's been done... I want to see a proper land cel-shaded.

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

I'd have to say we're starting to run out of themes for Zelda dungeons, but an interesting one would be a mechanical/factory type dungeon with lots of gears and puzzles. Might be too advanced for Zelda technology, but we have seen gears implemented in the Windmill in OoT and the Clock Tower in MM.

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

I have a GREAT theme for a dungeon. I mentioned this idea before, and I seem to remember Lord of Shadow was rather keen on it. If I miss something l-o-s, please mention it.

Link should need something from a distant town (a quest item like an Essence or Orb or whatever the devil it is Link needs). A large town, with a large wall around it for defense. Well, it turns out that Ganondorf (or whoever the main villain is during the game) sent an allied gang of monsters to the town to retrieve it first. The houses are invaded, people are hiding in their homes and buildings, and Link needs to set up a confrontation with the gang's leader to retrieve his quest item.

The invaded town would be an excellent theme for a fresh, new kind of dungeon. There would still be a dungeon map, which would be in the form of a town map found in a treasure chest. The streets would form the main rooms, with many interconnected buildings several storeys high making up the numerous other rooms. As you traverse down the streets, several monsters could jump out through windows, initiating street fights. There is considerable room for puzzles as you need to locate keys to open doors for secure areas, and puzzles could include block-pushing, torch-weilding, climbing, and all sorts of mind-benders and exploration involved.

The Boss Key would be the key to the boss's hideout in town. As you confront the gang leader (who would be reminiscent of a mobster Kingpin), he would show his true colours: a formidable boss monster. Slay it to regain the town and receive your item.

I remember that idea, Mystic. That was yours? I loved it, and still do.

Torino: Nice idea. Something similar was partially seen in the Great Bay Temple in MM, but it could definitely be expanded on.

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

I'd like the water temple in windwaker graphics but this time for swimming at least let Link get flippers... I'm starting to miss those items along with the rocs feather, pegasus boots, keys that open the dungen and others. As a dungeon idea the theme is life and death and would work wonderfully with Majora's Mask (but is compatible with others).

When you enter the dungeon the day and night timer starts, if you look up you'll see a giant creature slowly hurtling towards where you are. If you look around you will see it is alot like a town. there are little huts and people doing actions. You will learn a song that will allow you to restart your time period (which would be 3-5 days). You will find a key and you will use the key to open doors, in each room there would be something to fight or to do. Once you do that you will rescue a person, when done rescuing you will follow themaround and at ceratain time periods things will happen, everynight the creature releases a mini-boss which must be defeated. It can kill the villagers but if one of the needed villagers die you must restart your time period. on the3 end of the fifth day the creature will crash to the ground and everybody will remain unharmed. First you must stun it with whatever and then talk to 10 villagers A.S.A.P they villagers will run inside and leave you and the boss. For ridding the village or wahtever they give you what ever you went there in the first place (Wind instrument, Triforce shard etc.)

Another intresting idea could be underworld and heaven. This also timed in the under world you have to find people who were framed and in heaven you have to capture people who managed to make their way into heaven even though they don't deserve it. The underworld is where all the monsters and puzzles are at and there are a few in heaven to. When you free the underworld of all framed people (which would be like 4 or 5) a centaur would appear if you are in the underworld and a evil angel or something in heaven.

hmm... it could make a good game... *copyrights*

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

How about if Link found this area of water full of abandoned ships, but notices some strange lines running between them. He enters a nearby one and find that the lines are walkways between the ships, and he finds different things in different ships, like maybe the map, or overworld map in a surveyor ship, and the compass in some old wooden ship...well anyway, the boss is maybe some kind of pirate captain ghost.
I apologize if this is anything like some part of TWW, I haven't played it yet, so I don't know.
EDIT: An old wooden ship because it wouldn't have the updated navigation stuff newer ones would have. Also, maybe the Boss Key in some kind of cargo ship with a ton of rupees in it as well.

btw, did anyone read any of my previous posts (on this thread)? I was wondering what people thought of them...

Re: New Dungeon themes in Future games

Strange, I must have missed your last post, sesshoumaru.

Anyways, I really like your ideas for the Tower of the Sun/Moon/stars thing, and the wrecked ship could end up quite good as well.

Aside from te whole torture thing, which definitely doesn't belong in Zelda, I like your escape idea as well.
