NEW ZELDA: LoZ : Spirit Tracks (Tentative title)

UPDATED : New trailer, written and video review of the demo, new item and concept art

Spirit Tracks is the latest handheld Zelda title coming out December 7th 2009. It uses the toon Link, cell shading and stylus gameplay of Phantom Hourglass.

A variety of information gathered from the current material we have at the moment includes;

- Trains are a big thing in this game as you ride a train around the land. (This doesn't mean Zelda is getting "modernized", its a fantasy world with cameras, telephones and steam powered things, not a "medieval" world)
- May be able to place down your own tracks. There is already a set of tracks placed down.
- It is unknown if you can travel on foot in the fields.
- The new map is most likely the new Hyrule, it also has its own castle and Princess Zelda. The majority of the map shown in the trailer is land
- NEW ITEM - A green propeller thing which shoots out whirlwinds. Point at where you want to shoot and blow into the mic to use it.
- NEW ITEM - A whip. It can be used to attack enemies from a distance (may be limited) and swing like the grapplying hook
- NEW PARTNER - A Phantom which you can control by tapping the icon and drawing the path it takes
- Multiple outfits. Links traditional tunic and a dark blue "train" version
- Zelda returns.
- Takes place 100 years from Phantom Hourglass
- Link is an engineers aprentice
- Uses the Phantom Hourglass engine ( Majoras Mask used the OoT engine and TP used the WW engine)

- Out December 7th 2009

Now, I'm okay with a train being in the series, heck, I'm excited, but there seems to a bit of dissent and wtfs going around. Thoughts?

Visually, it looks very much like Phatnom Hourglass

Dungeon maps are shown on the top screen, with action on the bottom... just like Phantom Hourglass

The real appeal is obviously driving a train in the Zelda universe, one with a mounted cannon on the locomotive

Zelda railroad building adventure with dungeon goodness.

Link has the ability to control/create enemies and make them fight enemies. Railroad mechanic is an extension of Phantom Hourglass boat system -- riding a rail and shooting cannons

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks is the title.

Very Phantom Hourglass like, but hopefully with new and fresh ideas. The new weapons and skills look like a good start, but Link looks kind of odd in his little conductor's outfit.

New Zelda looks better than my description probably makes it sound. Looks like a fairly traditional Zelda portable game, with puzzle dungeons and Phantom Hourglass-style touch mechanics. The train basically works like the boat in PH, running along the overworld (presumably on a rail defined by players). Enemy control mechanics look pretty nice -- link distracted a big Zora with a controlled shadow guard, then snuck around to hit it from behind.

Personally I hope its not iWare, I'm reluctant to upgrade from my old DS as its working just fine but I'm even more reluctant to upgrade to the DSi since it lacks a GBA port

My problem is convincing my parents to let me have another DS.... and soon, especially after just getting a Lite this Christmas. :/

It's a DS universal game so rejoice, you'll be able to play on your dslite and I'll be able to on my ds phat (though I'm getting a DSi for Warioware Snap).

I didn't hear anything from anywhere saying that it was exclusively for the DSi, so I don't know where that's coming from.

Personally, I was hoping for a console release and something that wasn't a PH clone.

But hey, if I'm disappointed now, maybe that means I'll be pleasantly surprised when I actually get my hands on the game.
