Re: NEW ZELDA: LoZ : Spirit Tracks (Tentative title)

For those of you who are doubting the excellence that will be Spirit Tracks, think of it like this.

You know how Majora's Mask took Ocarina Of Time's engine, but used it in an entirely unique and amazing way? Yeah. This is the Majora's Mask of Phantom Hourglass.

If it will be DSi only they would have shown us some features that are special for DSi... They didn't, probably a normal DS game =D

Re: NEW ZELDA: LoZ : Spirit Tracks (Tentative title)

Let's see.. I've noticed some things from the direct feed trailer.
-No fairy
-Link is kneeling in front of Zelda. I guess it has nothing to with PH/WW.
-There is some kind of a leaf-fan weapon, that can blow stuff away. Seems cool!
-Hyrule seems to be in 4 parts. Like the sea in PH.
-There is a sea part of the map. Maybe some sailing involved, too?
-There's some kind of statue you can control (duh). Not too sure if I like the idea yet.
-You can use a honk to scare cows! COOL!!

Re: NEW ZELDA: LoZ : Spirit Tracks (Tentative title)

My guess would be a sequel to PH, thus finishing TWW's 'New Hyrule' arc -as it has the trains which aren't much different from steam boats, the graphics style, and the bare landscape vs a developed one-, but that's just me. Similarly though, I could see it forming off of TP aswell, with the expansive fields, boars, and what appeared to be a dominion rod-esque item.

Definately looking forward to more info. Also, it's gonna be for any DS. Normal Lite or i. Anyone assuming otherwise I would call pretty stupid right about now.

This analogy won't work. Almost everyone loves OoT. Lots do not love PH. It is even not a revolutionary game.

You guys need to chill about the DSi theory. There is no way it will only be for DSi. It won't even make sense.

Phantom Hourglass is the most revolutionary game (purely from a gameplay standpoint) we've had since OOT. But you're right, it was a bad example.

Although I, and many others, found PH to have flawless controls, I'd say it was more of a step sideways than forward or backwards. Not exactly revolutionary, but definately intuitive and quite fun.

Flawless? Some of the controls are flawed, such as rolling. I can never do rolling on my own, except on times when I've rolled by mistake by simply running.

I agree. It's controls were superb and its one of the most revolutionary zelda games around.

I apologize. I shouldn't have used the word revolutionary. What I mean is that people drooled and moaned over OoT even to this day (which is over 10 years ago). While PH was a good game, it doesn't come close to PH.

It's definately revolutionary, but wether or not it's evolutionary is another matter. A revolution is a fundamental change, for better or worse.

But amen to the controls being flawless. Honestly I don't see where the whole "BAWWW I WANT D-PAD CONTROLS" stuff is coming from. With Phantom Hourglass's flawless controls and the Wii's crazy controller, I don't think I'll be able to bring myself back to using traditional Zelda controls.

First off I said "I and many others found" which means not everyone and it's completely subjective. Anyways, I never had a problem rolling at all. Quite the opposite really, and if that's your biggest gripe I gotta say that's kinda weak.

Well, sorry. Most of the other controls I am perfectly fine with. Maybe it's because I'm not entirely used to using the stylus, but oh well.

That's partly because the game does not correctly explain the most effective method of rolling. That is, bringing the stylus to the very side of the screen and rubbing in a small space as if you're trying to eradicate an Earth-threatening virus.

It's like riding a bike. Once you learn to do it properly, you never forget it.

Re: NEW ZELDA: LoZ : Spirit Tracks (Tentative title)

Eh, not what I was hoping for, but I guess it'll have to do. I enjoyed wind waker but it wasn't very memorable, and I still don't like the graphics. If you compare them to what they pulled of with Mario 64 DS you just know they can do better then this.

Will probably get it anyways, like every Zelda game.

I have a question for you all.

Who predicts the name "spirits tracks" will remain the same?

Re: NEW ZELDA: LoZ : Spirit Tracks (Tentative title)

Why would they release it on the DSi only when the hardware is the same with only a few tweaks?

You mean I'm not supposed to draw a small swirl while running?

Nope. It works sometimes, but it's incredibly ineffective.
