Do you think the end of Zelda is near?

While some may say this belongs in Future Zelda, I think that this poll describes the whole Zelda universe as one. Basically, does anybody think that soon Miyamoto will retire The Legend of Zelda, just like Kojima did to Metal Gear? Explain.

Exactly. Business-wise you will never stop a franchise until it proves itself to be unprofitable. And judging by the continuing "success" of pokemon, mario, and other franchises that have shown positive cash flows, Zelda definitely does not have a certain end in sight.

I really want to think otherwise, but I believe honestly that it will keep getting milked.

Yeah. What would a sequel franchise be? Colin's Adventure to Termina! Yeah hopefully we get a good game next.

I wonder if they are tired of making zelda

nah i dont think its going to end yet. but i dont think we're getting a new one anytime soon.

Look at the gap between LA and Oot. It was five years. We could possibly be going through something like that Zelda drought back then. Only time will tell though.

If there is more than a 2 year gap I think I'll have to go over there and speak my mind.

It would suck, but if you think about it on a lighter note, that drought could re-spark that Zelda feeling in you like when you first got into the series.

An amazing Zelda game would respark that Zelda feeling! We need something that changes the face of everything like oot! And I'm sorry for bringing oot into this,.

OoT did not change everything. All the changes it made were mostly due to the change from 2D to 3D. Everything else was just an expansion of what ALttP brought to the series (i.e. the formula).

Aonuma said in Nintendo Power that he will not stop making Zelda till he surpasses the success of OoT.

Personally, I would find it weird for a series of anything to end, especially if it's something that I grew up with and is just so.. old school - lack of a better word.

I don't really know if it's the end, but I don't think a series could last forever, and if does, then I think there are going to be a lot of changes to the Zelda series; to the point where the Zelda now will be nothing close to it.

Nintendo will continue to wank off it's franchises until it ceases to be profitable.
