A Zelda MMORPG

I have been thinking on this for a while, and I think a Zelda MMORPG could really work. These are some of the concepts I came up with:

-Massive Overworld. I mean HUGE! THis would make it so that if you wanted to hang out with other people, you could, but if you wanted the more classic Zelda feel of going it alone, you can roam the three massive continents or the ocean in solitude.

-Houses. This feature would allow you to form villages, open shops, and customize your pad. Choose a spot to build your house, then fill it with furniture. There would be an option to set a price on items, allowing for the formation of shops. This feature would lead to villages being formed, leading to a more authentic feel.

-Races. These are the races I came up with.

Good

Hylians - Hylians are the default character. They are compatible with almost every item in the game, but this is their most useful feature. They can also buy a horse. Any race can buy a boat

Gorons - Gorons are immune to lava and fire, allowing for villages in volacnoes and the like. The roll ablitiy returns, as well as powder kegs.

Zoras - Zoras retain all their MM abilities, as well as being able to build houses underwater.

Kokiri - Kokiri are fast, able to use a bow, boomerang, and sling shot, as well as a short sword. They can become Koroks and fly around easily.

Shiekah - Exactly like Hylians, only more ninja-like and compatible with less items.

Evil

Geurdo - Hylians, only evil. Yes, a male option is available.

Darknut - Evil counterpart of Gorons. Can do everything a Goroncan do but roll. In exchange, tbey can purchase and ride dodongos.

Fierce Zora - Zora, only evil

Skull Kid - Kokiri, only evil. Flys via Dekuy Flowers. Yep, you heard me.

Garo - Shiekah, only evil. They appear taller than in MM.


- No rigid classes. Instead adeptness is handled much like in normal RPGs. To learn certain spells, for example, you must have a certain magic level. You can customize this at the game's start, and whenever you level up.


This is still in concept stage, and the races are by no means set. I want to work in Rito and Deku at the very least.

I think it could work pretty well, there is a world outside Link in Hyrule yaknow. Just reserve canon names as Link and variations of it. I wouldn't say Warcraft really, games such as Final fantasy online have far more storyline which is what a zelda game would need. Face it, Zelda needs to evolve, newer games have left the older series in the dust due to stagnation, Fable 2 was a pretty popular game because its evolved, most long running series game are using the same stale structure.

Besides that. I want my Zora.

And zora city.

It's really funny how whenever anyone mentions anything about a Zelda MMORPG this exact same post appears everywhere (besides the fable part).

WoW and Fable are not the only existant MMORPGs, one MMORPG can be VERY different from another.

And it's just a stupid idea to think you could be able to be Link, Zelda, Ganon, or any existant character.

While I agree it would be a bad idea, it doesn't have to be cloned Links. For example I'm helping with a Pokemon MMORPG somewhere else, and it's going to have customized player graphics.

An MMORPG can be customizable, you know.

This could be a good idea just for an other game. It would not work for a Zelda game.

I see this post and I think the person who wrote it must have dyslexia because I seem to recall the thread starter saying there would be different classes. anyone who thinks this is a bad idea has too much of a Zelda ego.

Saying this is like mixing Wow and Fable with Zelda is an unfair thing to say seeing as their are thousands of other MMORPG's out there. besides from what I've seen it seems more like this would be a cross between Dark Cloud and Zelda. maybe a bit of Age of empires. aside from that do you think Zelda is really an original game play style? Hardly, its used all over the place.

I agreee with Goron Morn in that it wouldn't have to be a bunch of Links/Zeldas.
Customize!
You can have your various races that you start with and customize from there. If you make someone who looks just like Link, Zelda, or Ganondorf, you'll be hunt down and shot

I would like a game like this, maybe on nintendo's next gen console, the wii wouldn't be able to handle it.

Yeah I agrre with you hombre...I can't piture myself palying an MMO Zelda with the wii remote and Wii speak

I can't even picture myself playing a Zelda MMO with the Wii's Online capabilities period.

Eh. I think Zelda could be turned into a MMO. However, I wouldn't really like to see it like WoW, rather a MMOAdventureGame.

And I think those races aren't really the best ones. Maybe something like:

Good - Hylians, Zoras, Gorons and Deku.

Evil - Moblins, those lizard guys (would be aquatic to 'counter' Zoras?), "Stals" (the skeleton-guys) and maybe some new, evil race.

Thes races sound good bust I must point out that Dekus are largely evil...only in MM does it become otherwise

And there would be more races. these were the ones that popped into my head and had counterparts on the other side. Some others I am considering: Rito, Deku, Anooki, Stals, and Poes, but I need counterparts for them.
