Zelda needs a big change!
For me Zelda is the best game series. My first Zelda game was Ocarina of time as soon as I played it I was hooked and it became my favorite game ever. I then played majoras mask and once again i was hooked. It was completly different from OOT in terms of surroundings. You could talk to someone in a town and it would change the next three days in the game. The game was amazing. Yet the temples still were like temples from ocarina of time it was challening and fun like Ocarina of time yet it had a fresh feel to it. The next game i played was Windwaker and i loved it. The game was such a happy game there was lots to do in the islands the temples were challenging and fun and it will be remembered. Then we have Twilight princess. Ocarina of time had survived the test of time and was winning all these top 100 best game polls while tp was in development. So Nintendo try to beat OOT by making a game the same as OOT but different dungeons in different places that featured in OOT. The reviews where no where near as good as OOT and it was forgetable. My friend said when he was playing it it was like playing a re make of ocarina of time. I hope the next Zelda game is completly different to any Zelda game that has came out so far. The only similarities should be the dungeons. What do you think?

Re: Zelda needs a big change!
Yeah, the Zelda series would excell if it went in a new direction of sorts. However, the problem with that is that Nintendo has already created a "status quo" that they probably feel obligated to fulfill, as was the case with TP. In addition, the people at Nintendo probably want to stick with the norm so they don't lose fans. If you don't know what I mean, just google "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Future." While a prank, there were a lot of negative responses to it.
Basically, a different type of Zelda would be great, though I'm not so sure what Nintendo thinks about changing the series. There is a chanece they will change the series, however; Apparently, Shigeru Miyamoto said this about Twilight Princess: "It will be the last if it's kind." Whether they mean a new story, villain, control scheme, or *gasp* new main character, no one really knows.

However you are right about the status quo because when windwaker and majoras mask came out many people did complain. I just hope they dont get to much pressure put on them this time round.

Re: Zelda needs a big change!
I think that a big change, or at least one of them, could be Wii's oh so innovative controllers. If they really used the motion sensing and the pointer in the next Zelda it could be something truly new.
But I'm afraid they'll just do a half-hearted attempt, just like in Mario Galaxy, heh.

I agree, and I'm sure there are others who enjoyed TP too. It was a good game. The visuals were awesome, and I kinda liked being a canine. But they do need to bring in something new while keeping something to relate to. I mean, the wolf thing was new for TP. Every game has had it's gimick (time travel, masks, wind control, etc.). We just need to find out what they're gonna do next...

I think...
I think they should do a graphical remake of Ocarina of Time. What that means is that they should Take OOT, polish it up graphically, and possibly add the Hidden Skills seen in Twilight Princess, but as Ocarina of Time spans 7 years, Link would only be able to learn them ONLY when he is an adult. Even if they did this, The original would still be the best. No zelda game will ever be able to stand up to Ocarina of Time in my book, not even a remake of OOT!
It's just like Metal Gear Solid (for the original playstation). They did a GameCube remake called Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes. While I liked it a lot, the general consensus was that the Original was better, and they should have just left it alone. Maybe Nintendo should leave Ocarina of Time alone, since it was good enough as is.

Re: Zelda needs a big change!
Yeah i know it is a good game but it didn't have a big impact in the gaming industry which most Zelda games have done thats another reason why I think it needs a changed. It need to keep pushing the boundaries.

But they should change their dungeon setups. It's always the same in every Zelda game. There's a dungeon with an awesome item to get and a boss to recieve a special object afterwards. They should make it more outdoors as in, corrupted villages that have been exiled for many years because of strange evil that lurks around, or something dark and sinister that kidnaps people around Hyrule Town and it's an adventure to go under the sewers and through people's houses to try and catch the monster. But that's my opinion... Something like that should slightly change the ever-going temple/dungeon business.

Re: Zelda needs a big change!
zelda should go back to its roots and that means non lineair gamestyle. Tp was just ''okay'', nothing special and I think its because it was too easy and too lineair. Alttp, Ocarina of time and majoras mask were great games! And wind waker was good too, because of its unique style. I fear the next zelda will be even more lineair than TP ...

and going back to what you've said though, OoT to me was as much as a forgettable rehashing of ALttP as TP was of OoT for you. (if that made sense?) I hadn't played TP yet, so I could say. I do think Zelda needs some changes. I don't think they should be too drastic - they change things up too much, and they're going to lose some fans. yep. I loved MM for that - only the dungeons were linear. that's the way it should be.
