I was thinking about what else could be used in wi-fi with the Zelda series,
and I thought 'why not have a stage builder of sorts to trade and sell online.' Now think about the selling part, not only would it give more importance to rupees, but it would also give the player a filling of entrepreneurship(lol) . You could also have a prize at the end of the dungeon, like a shield, or a sword, or rupees, or some other object. So what are your thoughts?

Re: Dungeon Editor?
Well, it'd be very fun, if you could make your own puzzles and stuff. Would there be bosses at the end, or would it just be like the Gerudo Training Ground in OoT?
I would like being able to make dungeons. But some people would probably get a kick out of making a dungeon that you couldn't beat. Like having 1 more locked door than you had keys. |

Re: Dungeon Editor?
Actually, I could imagine a dungeon editor being similar to the track editor.
First, you'd set some points to serve as a general layout. Then, pick basic shapes. Morph said shapes, then add floors and height. Then walls/fences, followed by hazards and chests, set traps, enemies, and choose a texture theme. Finally, make a boss by modifying existing enemy colors, health, and strength. Voila! A basic dungeon. I probably was too vague, but it might work nicely. |

Re: Dungeon Editor?
It could work well for a portable console(DS). It could work for the Wii, but you would have to spend hours trying to make one. Thats why its better for the DS, and its also alot easier.

Re: Dungeon Editor?
I came up with this idea eons ago.
The idea behind it was that most of the Phantom Hourglass dungeons use the same set of "blocks", with the same floor types, etc., only arranged in different ways. Phantom Hourglass was almost designed as a 2D game; the islands and dungeons are comprised of lots of "tiles", like in the 2D games, only instead of tiles, they are 3D blocks. It would be ridiculously easy to put the player in charge of these "blocks", so user-made dungeons would be easy to incorporate. |

Re: Dungeon Editor?
It would definitely work for a 2D/2,5D Zelda game, not a real 3D one. 3D dungeons are far too complex, unless you use boring predefined rooms, but we sure won't get an Unreal Editor on the Wii.

Re: Dungeon Editor?
Considering how intricate Zelda puzzles are, I think this is very unlikely.
I do like the idea, though.

Re: Dungeon Editor?
That's an interesting idea. I would building my own dungeon. I'll admit something... I LOVE KILLING HUMANS IN ZELDA!!! *Ahem* Anyways, it would interesting if you were given some selected enemies from the game, no bosses, only enemies. You either customize their appereance and stats and form a boss or even change their size.

Re: Dungeon Editor?
The problem with a dungeon editor is that it would likely be very restricted, for the sake of "user friendliness", and because the application itself would be running within the restrictions of the console. Sure, it would be neat, but you wouldn't be able to use your own custom textures or manually model the environment. They would probably give you a selection of perhaps 30 different room shapes in which you can only edit minor things like chests and door locations. All the dungeons would essentially look the same, because you would be completely unable to artistically theme it, or otherwise make it unique.
Not to mention you would be fighting the same bosses all the time. In the end, Nintendo isn't Valve. |

Re: Dungeon Editor?
Maybe if Nintendo did a "LittleBigPlanet" and made a Zelda spinoff where you make your own dungeons.
And traded them online and stuff...

Re: Dungeon Editor?
^Definitely next-gen, their is no way in heck that the wii has that kind of processing power.
Though I don't doubt the fact that a competent dungeon editor would be goddesses-sent. Bosses would be a difficult issue to work around, of course, but nintendo, being the geniuses they are, could figure it out. Cheers, ~MARU~
