Game Concept

OK, a post I made in another thread basically covers it, it was a discussion about having a new villain instead of Ganon/dorf. One of the main villain ideas was of Zelda being a villain, and then I said this:

OK, we have a sequel to a game where Link has killed Ganondorf at the end. The idea is that the spirit of Ganon, who has the Triforce of Power dwelling within his spirit, comes to Zelda in a flashback (dun dun duuuuun) that happens after TP (or whatever) at some point. He tells her his plan, she takes the Triforce of Power, and he be allowed to return to the World of the Living by using her body as an envoy of darkness.
She somehow tricks him, taking the Triforce but preventing him from controlling her. She now has the Triforce of Power, but the Wisdom not to abuse it. However, the Triforce of Power corrupts her mind (as Ganon had tainted it), and affects her judgement, eventually giving her a lust for power she can't control.
Then she goes on a world-wide conquest for the final Triforce piece.
Link would have to deal with the horrible decision of saving the world but losing Zelda, or living life on the run (he can't just die). Obviously the game would involve Link fighting his way into Hyrule castle, thinking he's dealing with a possessed Zelda or someone pretending to be her, and when he is faced with the horrible truth that she chose this path, and he has runs away (guards in tow).
Link ends up living life on the run, finishing up in Gerudo desert (or somewhere where spirits are non unheard of) where he meets the (slightly put-down) spirit of Ganondorf, who, far from repenting, just wants to have his Triforce back. Link finds that he'd rather have a power-hungry Ganondorf than someone with resources (such as Zelda), he agrees to help Ganondorf, but first they have to resurrect him. Link would have to travel across the world (incognito), to find the materials for the resurrection (in dungeons).
After Ganondorf is resurrected, Link and Ganondorf split up to find a way to defeat Zelda (in a Link/Kafei type situation, except neither is happy about it and attempt to kill each other at any safe moment).
But part-way through, when they've gathered up the materials needed, Ganondorf is approached by a projection of Zelda, who uses the Triforce of Power in conjunction with the Triforce of Wisdom to corrupt his mind, and force him to kill Link. Link now has to kill Ganondorf (who, thanks to Zelda, manages to access his boar form), again.
Link then goes on to defeat Zelda, feeling it is the only way. Unfortunately, the Power and Wisdom Triforces are conflicting, causing a sort of split personality situation, between regular Zelda and a dominant malignant Zelda.
Link is supported by regular Zelda at times in the fight when he has managed to wear down evil Zelda down sufficiently, unfortunately Link can't attack her while she is 'normal'. Eventually Zelda is worn down enough for regular Zelda to take full control and release the ToP back to the Sacred Realm.

Wow, this is either a really bad fanfic (but that depends who's writin' it) or a game Nintendo should attempt. I may make a thread of it...
Possibly the longest post I ever made, and it also contains horrid grammatical errors, which, if I could be bothered, I would change. Discuss, flame, whatever, just tell me what you think. Obviously, I haven't thought of a name. If you have one, go ahead, tell me.

Re: Game Concept

It's... interesting, I'll give you that. I rather like the idea actually, but not the whole Zelda being a villain part. I do think the idea of Link and Ganondorf having no choice but to work together has potential, but it could end up making Ganondorf appear too soft (like how Eggman just appears as a clumsy idiot in newer Sonic games and always gets overthrown).

Overall, I'd say it's different, but in this case I'm not sure that different is good.

Re: Game Concept

Well, that's why I threw in Ganondorf trying to kill off Link at any available (and safe) moment, and then, about half way through the game (or whenever) Ganondorf would get mind controlled by someone (in this case Zelda), to kill Link.
Then Link would have to kill off Ganondorf (or so he thinks), and collect the resources needed to stop Zelda. Then Ganondorf could show up and reclaim his Triforce.

Or something, I'm not fussy as to what happens, I just came up with the concept while I posted that.

Re: Game Concept

...OK, now we've had a spam attack, let's move on.

I thought a bit on this idea, and I think I should clear this up.
While Link and Ganondorf would work together for a few dungeons to collect what is needed to defeat Zelda, Link would do some and Ganondorf would do others individually. And obviously, Ganondorf wouldn't enjoy having to team up with Link and would probably attempt to kill him at every available possibility.

Ganondorf would probably hate being a reluctant hero, and Zelda would probably provide him with the ability to kill Link (and obviously, Ganondorf would think he can turn the tables on Zelda), so Ganondorf would accept the offer to help her out, thinking he could use it to his advantage.

I dunno. Link and Ganondorf would make an even odder couple than... er... the odd couple.

Yeah, but there'd be constant bickering, attempts to kill each other, so it's all in good fun.

Re: Game Concept

I think the concept is great and has lots of potential. From the Link/Ganondorf team to the Zelda villain concept. I like it. Some things need to be cleared up, though. How would Link be able to defeat a Zelda wielding two-thirds of the Triforce compared to his one?
Cheers,
~MARU~

Re: Game Concept

I'm trying to picture this as a game, and I honestly can't see it working. Or at least, I can't see myself taking it seriously.

The idea of Link and Ganondorf exploring Hyrule together, walking through towns and solving puzzles in dungeons, and trying to kill each other whenever they get the chance, seems a bit too surreal and comical to work in a "serious" storyline.

That's just how I picture it though - I'm sure that the image of this game that you have in your head is very different to mine.

Re: Game Concept

I don't like the idea of Link helping Ganondorf. That'd be like Mario helping Bowser in one of the MAIN Mario games.

I don't like the idea of Zelda becoming totally evil (Arrogant, maybe. Badass (as sheik), possibly). That'd be like Peach... well, you get it.

And I HATE the idea of a new primary antagonist for the Zelda series as a whole.

But the OP has some good thoughts.

Re: Game Concept

Cool idea, hopefully if they trully ever do this they wont tell us about it before we get there in the game.

I don't think Ganon would need to be controlled to try and kill Link, after you get whatever you wanted to get with Ganon, he thinks hes done with Link and tries to kill him.

But it would probably work better if he asks the help from some other evil guy that isn't Ganondorf.

Like a team up between Vaati (human form) and Link. It could work, they both wear caps.
