The Most Crazy(?) Zelda Idea Ever

Ok...

I know this is gonna sound crazy, so I'll just go ahead and say it...

Zelda. MMORPG.

There. With that out of the way, any ideas on how it could work?

Care to explain how it would work?

Like, does it flow parallel to Maple Story? How does the weapon system function. What Zelda characters would be made into custom players? How would Zelda relate to a never-ending cycle of level upgrades? What's so multiplayer about it?

Not sounding mean, but just some things to keep in mind.

999 players, 90% of them tween wannabe-Zelda-fans-casual-players, all playing as Zelda characters and all arguing over who the real 'Zelda" or "Link" is.

I could personally see it working as a game, but I doubt Nintendo would do it, since they're so conservative with their games.

Have a race selection, and class selection in the game, set up a working economic system, create a faction system, create an innovative battle system, and there you go. Zelda MMORPG. Problem I see is the amount of people wanting to be Link or Zelda.

Though I know within the next ten posts someone will say "WoW ripoff" in some way, shape or form. If someone doesn't, well I'll be damned.

I personally don't see this going through because, as already stated, Nintendo probably will never make MMOs because they are pretty set in stone about their games.

The idea is pretty sound though. Nintendo would have to expand Hyrule tremendously and maybe even add other lands into the game like Termina. The ability to play as Goron, Zora or regular Hylian would be a drawing point for the game. As well, because MMOs are pretty much required to do regular updates, Nintendo could add some more races down the road like Gerudo or something else.

The only problem is with equipment. There really hasn't been any other than the Master's Sword and your basic tunics. I don't know where'd they go with this. Also professions would be needed and so far only Alchemy would be viable to keep the story complete. Maybe an armorer, but those professions are nothing new nor exciting.

Personally I would ban the name Link and most variations and give the creator the character

i think having a Gerudo race would be cool, but keeping to zelda facts, i think male shouldnt be allowed because 100 years dosnt happen as fast as people would make characters.

It's the closest that will happen, I don't know where graals gone to now but back in the day it was LttP online, for the most part.

This. Not a MMORPG, but an adventure game. MMOAG!
Would be fun to play in dungeons cooperatively or fight skirmishes against the other side.

But most fun would be rollin' on hills with a Goron. Even though I'd be one of the 2% who aren't young Hylian males named after a certain hero, heh.

I do not think it would work well. I like the feeling of completing a Zelda game and its finality. So for me I would not like it, but that does not mean that I still wouldn't end up playing it cause it is another Zelda title.

Miyamoto, Zelda's creator, considers Zelda games to be RPG's.

I think that much of the appeal of LOZ games is playing as the character Link. He is a one of a kind character, and to have a bunch of Link clones running around in a MMORPG would cheapen his character.

Obviously, you would be able to choose to be a Goron, Zora, Skull Child, Rito, Kokiri, Hylian, etc. but there would inevitably be a bunch of Link clones. This would take away from Link's uniqueness.

He's wrong. By that definition a lot of games would be RPG's. And too many games are already called RPG's.

In reality the only RPG's are pen&paper and larp, heh.
