Re: Voice acting.
I've always wondered what the characters voices would sound like, and I too feel that the next Zelda should have voice acting. Although... having silent characters makes you focus on the intense music that goes on during cut scenes.

Re: Voice acting.
I have to disagree. If done right, voice acting can actually compliment the music. In my opinion, Fable pulled it off quite well.
Anyway, I would like to see voice acting, but I would rather have them speak in a made-up language, similar to Shadow of the Colossus. That way you can avoid the obvious challenge of having NPCs refer to Link and being unable to say his name.

Re: Voice acting.
Anyone remember the voice acting in the cartoon & the CD-I games? We certainly don't want THAT happening again.
Maybe if they find great voice actors, I'll be up for it. Until then, no thanks. |

Re: Voice acting.
I would love voice acting on several conditions
1.Link NEVER talks. 2. You have the option to turn it off if you don't want it, and keep using text. 3. The voice acting is done with GOOD voice actors like Jennifer Hale (Samus in the Metroid Prime series, Bastila in KotOR, Naomi Hunter in MGS series), Jen Taylor (Cortana in Halo series, and Peach in several mario games), and Reuban Langdon (Dante in several DMC games) for example. 4. Both NOA and NOE hire thier own voice actors, rather than using NOJs. |

Re: Voice acting.
NO. It is strange, somewhat creepy, and would cost too much or would get annoying. If it does come, though, a turn-off option would be great.
Ninty could take after the Paper Marios and Fire Emblem and use "bleep blip bloop" sounds. That would be fine with me. We cannot bear to witness this.

Re: Voice acting.
I agree that Link must never talk, I think they can pull it off somehow. But I would like to see some voice acting, but I don't think it's AS necessary as some make it out to be. Critics may say that the text boxes are outdated but I personally don't have a problem with them.
As for saying Link's name, the player could name Tidus in Final Fantasy X but Square still succeeded in implementing voice acting. So it can be done, though it might be a little clumsy, like Link being called "Hero" a lot lol |

I also notice that most of the VAers you listed are female. What, no male main characters?

Re: Voice acting.
I love for one, how you're all almost scared of a fiction video game character speaking. ****, what's the deal?
Also Video Game Voice Actors =/= The only good VA's. Lastly, Voice acting is a must. Stop being idiots. HAHA LINK MUST, I MEAN MUST!!! STAY SILENT. OT IM NEVER BUYING A NINTENDO GAME AGAIN.

Re: Voice acting.
I'd . . . rather not have voice acting in a high-fantasy game. Most of the worst voice acting I've heard in games were in fantasy games, like Dragon Quest VIII, Star Fox Adventures and Final Fantasy X.
They could do better in Zelda. . . but they probably wouldn't, heh. And how does a Zora sound like? A Goron? I'd imagine they sound very little like humans, and even if they get good voice actors, can they make them sound 'realistic'? But if there's voice acting in the game, at least let it be optional or an option for the original, japanese one. I'm tired of listening heartless euro-actors with bad lip sync.

I mainly thought of female characters because I couldn't think of many male VAers off the top of my head, and because female voices are typically the ones that are done wrong in video games (most come off as annoying valley girls or have horribly fake brittish or french accents). As for some suggestions for male VAers: Kevin Michael Richardson (Jolee Bindo in KotOR, Tartarus in Halo 2, Cyrus in Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel), Axel D'esert (Zip in several Tomb Raider games), Yuri Lowenthal (the Prince in the Sands of Time and Two Thrones), and Raphael Sbarge (Carth Onasi in KotOR, Scorch in Republic Commando, Kaiden Alenko in Mass Effect). |

Re: Voice acting.
NO!
Reason is that if we ever heard Links Official Voice (CD-I games shouldn't count) it would be like draining some of the magic from a zelda game. If, however the Zelda series had to come to an end, it would be awesome if the final line in the game is link saying something short, a word or two, like Good-bye. |
