How would you feel if Zelda actually starred in the series named after her?

How would you feel if Zelda was the main character in Zelda!!! I think it would be really cool! Plus, she would be versatile because she can change into sheik.

I like link too much to lose him.

They would change the name of the series to "Link," except it doesn't have the same ring to it .

No. But I'd rather see a gal Link instead of a guy Link. But really just an optional chose.

This thread has been made countless times, but I always feel obliged to give out my opinion:

It'd be a really nice change. Zelda is totally viable for the protagonist's role.

Also, I am going to make a major rant on the people making references to the cd-i games-- it's totally fallacious and idiotic to bring them up in your arguments. If I were a MOD, I'd delete all posts trying to bring down a thread such as this one by arguing with cd-i references. On the other hand, I think I'd lock this thread for being overposted, too.

1) It's actually a valid point. They were games in which Zelda was the main character.
2) You're not a mod so deal with it.
3) I think it'd be a bad idea not only because Zelda's role is always get captured get saved, Zelda would most likely remain inside the castle at all times, and it's tradition, but also because she already starred in a few crappy (CD-i) games.

1.) We're dealing with informal reasoning here, so validity should be nonone's concern. What I'm concerned about are the conclusions backed up by cd-i references, oftentimes rendering a fallacious argument.

All CD-i jokes aside, I actually think it would be a pretty good idea. Interesting, for sure. She could use her magic powers and transform into Shiek, of course. But what could have happened to Link to cause her to be the hero this time around?

Christ, trust someone to post the CD-I's ffs lol. Overall, Link is a very boring character. I seriously hope they liven him up in the next game. As for playing as Zelda, I just wouldn't like it. I've explained why countless times before.

I see no point, really. (Except for some sort of multiplayer mode.)

I think it's a great idea. Of course, Zelda has always been my favorite character, so I suppose I'm rather biased.

I've always thought it was unfair that Zelda has never had the starring role even though the series is named after her. It's The Legend of Zelda, not The Legend of Link. And yet the series treats her like a more competent version of Peach.

I think Zelda is a much more interesting character than Link. She has this mysterious, exotic thing going on that makes her very appealing. I'd love to play as her in an actual Zelda game.

Of course, it would have to be structured differently. Zelda games typically revolve around using swordplay to kill enemies and solve puzzles. Zelda's gameplay would probably need to revolve around using raw magic power for most of her abilities.

I thought only the ocarina of time zelda could turn into link? If that's true, than your idea would mess up the timeline even more! That said, the idea's still awesome.

I hope she does not have to save Link, just like peach had to save mario.

In that thread that asked if Ganon was gay, I said something like this would happen:

If Ganon was gay, he'd be capturing Link and raping him in a no-need-to-explain way, and Zelda would have to come save Link. Does that sound like a very good game to you? Saving your non-homosexual friend from a homo-sexual enemy? I don't think Link would be in to good a shape after all that.

I would create a hack of the game where I was able to kill her, then I would have Link teabag her body before running off with a female character who has actually contributed something to the games.

Speaking of her rescuing Link, that's not necessarily what the plot has to be. Who says anyone needs to be rescued? There were no damsels in distress in Majora's Mask. Zelda could easily have other motivations for saving the world than to protect Link.

There could easily be a time where Link is absent and Zelda is forced to take matters into her own hands. That's what happened during his sleep in Ocarina of Time, after all.

Are you saying Zelda hasn't contributed anything to the series? She arguably has a more important role than Link. In fact, she's usually the one who tasks Link with his adventures. In Ocarina of Time, his entire quest was under her order. Link wouldn't even know what to do without her there to guide him.
