OoT Remake for DS

I'm normally against the idea of OoT remakes, but I was really impressed by the controls in Phantom Hourglass, and thought it would be a good idea if Nintendo remakes Ocarina of Time for DS( sort of like Super Mario 64 Ds). What do you guys think?

Re: OoT Remake for DS

How does PH controls link in with a SM64 style remake for OoT? PH controls with the stylus and SM64DS is the same as SM64 except with extra characters, stars and minigames

Re: OoT Remake for DS

I was suggesting with the comparison that it would be technologically possible to port a large 3d N64 game to DS... not that the controls would be similar...

Re: OoT Remake for DS

If there was going to be an OoT remake for the DS, I'd much prefer it to be more similar to SM64DS, where the stylus was used to only make them move if you tapped the map.

I don't like PH's controls..... touch control for everything... pffft.

Re: OoT Remake for DS

No thanks, we have enough OOT remakes for various consoles.

I'd rather Nintendo would focus on the new Zelda rather than waste time on something that fans really need to let go of. Honestly, it's a great game but it really doesn't need so many remakes.

Re: OoT Remake for DS

The Blake, those games were not literal remakes of OoT. God. I hate it when people confuse literal remakes with something that you call 'rip-offs'.

Re: OoT Remake for DS

When did I call any of them 'Rip-offs'?

Besides, the DS can only just produce better graphics than the N64, so any remakes for OOT on it would be near the exact same look of the original game anyway.

Wrong.

SM64DS, while being a remake, had a lot of differences. In fact, it had many more additions that the original probably couldn't even fit at all.

I suppose it did get annoying after a while. My only complaint about the controls was that you walked off of cliffs sometimes.

The DS is not supposed to be a handheld Gamecube. What did you expect? Just be glad that it can at least play 3D graphics, and pretty good graphics might I add.

Besides a couple of extra polygons, there wasn't much difference to SM64 at all.
OOT is almost 3 times as large as SM64 anyway, so any new features probably couldn't be added due to space issues.

Regardless of this being a complete new re-make anyway, it doesn't change the fact that there a dozens of versions of the game all over the place, It'd just make more sense if Nintendo focused more on the upcoming new Zeldas than milk OOT yet again.

There was.

You could play as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Wario. At least twice more stars were added to collect. Mini-games were added. Many rooms and characters were revamped that the original could not process. The list goes on.

At least play the stupid game before you judge it.

I own the stupid game.

Really though, what has mini-games and extra characters got to do with the graphical style of the game? Which, if you read my earlier posts, is what I was on about in the first place.

This isn't a debate over SM64 anyway, It's about OOT. Which, not only has had so many re-realeses, another one would be a waste of time.
New playable characters and minigames for OOTDS? Er, no thanks.

Well what do you expect with a remake? If they made it completely different, it wouldn't be a remake.

Re: OoT Remake for DS

I would love to see an Oot remake on the DS. Why not? Even if it was exactly the same it would be really cool to just whip it out and play when ever.

Re: OoT Remake for DS

Errrhh, yeah, milk the cow. Nintendo is well known for doing lots of remakes and re-releases (the "rip offs", how Goron Moron calls them). Ocarina of Time got basically one "remake" with Master Quest, and at least two more re-releases with the Collector's Edition and the Virtual Console versions...

So, no, thx. I got enough of this game. I would prefer to have another original Zelda game for the NDS instead, Phantom Hourglass style. Works better on NDS anyway.

Re: OoT Remake for DS

I'm going to try and end this debate as quickly as possible.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no.

We do not need any more freaking remakes be they for the DS, Wii, Ultra Fanboy 3000 or whatever. I do not want to play a game I played ten years ago. They are not that great. OoT is so overrated that it seems more people want a remake of it then people believe in god. If you want to play OoT, buy the collector's disc for the gamecube or plug in your N64. Let the developers work on something that does not appeal to rabid, nostalgic fanboys who think that Ocarina of Time is somehow better than Twilight Princess.

The game is past its time. All we'd get is pixely graphics that we would for ourselves to look at for the sake of nostalgia.

What?

You're telling me that the DS did all this great stuff, and now you're telling me not to expect it all. Please don't make yourself so confusing.

I just don't think it's worth the time. I've played OOT on 3 different consoles, one more would be just turning a great game into a plain annoying one.
