I'm sorry, but it's true. If you could position your camera directly above Link and point it downward, it would be exactly the same game as
A Link to the Past, only with 3D graphics. And the puzzles still mostly involve pushing blocks into specific configurations, or standing on top of a switch, or blowing up something with a bomb. These actions make absolutely no use of the third dimension, I'm afraid. I'm not saying I don't still enjoy Zelda games, I'm just pointing out the fact that they could use a little variety and innovation, before it gets old.

I think I've made my point. I will contend, however, that
Ocarina of Time had the cool ocarina game mechanic... even though that was already in both
A Link to the Past and
Link's Awakening... and of course there was the flute in
The Legend of Zelda and
The Adventure of Link... *cough*
