Re: Info On The Next Zelda Game

The only way to appeal to both the casual and hardcore markets is if difficulty srttings are placed. I don't want a dumbed-down casual game.

Re: Info On The Next Zelda Game

He said first that "it will not be a sequel to TP" and then later "It is likely that Midna will make a comeback because of popularity".
A little bit contradictory, because it would have to reference TP to a large extent to have Midna.

If it won't be a sequel to TP, there will be no Midna.

Other than that, there is hardly any info.
I'm sure we will get a trailer some time in '09, but what it holds in-store, no one knows.

Yeah, it was contradictory about midna and not a sequel to TP, but he means that it could take place hundreds or thousands of years after or before TP and midna will remain in the twilight realm, and thats how the comeback of midna means.

These are most likely facts, not official info. They are pointed out from discussions of nintendo for the next game.

In my opinion, they haven't really told us much of anything. They're just teasing us! And it had better not take until 2010 to make, I'm sick of waiting!

Here here, Mr. Moron! I'd hate to see Zelda fall victim to the trappings of commercial over-bearance and casual-market profitability like Mario and Kirby . . . yikes, we gotta start worrying about Samus, man! She could be already endorsing a game where you, I dunno, watch Metroids float onto a screen and err, pop them, by err, pointing you wiifinger plus. Oh yeah, wiifinger plus? It's totally the next big thing; like the 'Powerglove' only MORE EPIC AND CASUAL AND MOTIONABLE!! yup, it's a word . . .

Video Game developers need to realize that not everyone in the world is a casual gamer. Difficulty is one of the main factors of fun-nes in a game!

Dude, Nintendo has to make Zelda games sell someway...i mean if zelda doesn't sell we are not going to get more zelda...an if you hate the new direction...leave Zelda, that would be better than be complaing all the time.

Re: Info On The Next Zelda Game

I say go for difficult settings. Its the perfect solution. For those who want a more casual gaming experience they can go for an easier setting while those of us who want a hardcore difficult game can go for the difficult setting.

If those who dont want an easy setting but dont want a hard setting, can go for medium.

It might be a bit more work for the developers, but it caters to everyone.

Re: Info On The Next Zelda Game

That might not help much. Part of the difficulty rests in the dungeon puzzles and you can't really change that through difficulty modes. That's unfortunate, because I zipped through many dungeons like that.

Other than that, some game developers just increase damage or defense for the enemy and think that's difficulty. Yes, it is difficult, but that's incredibly cheap. A nice difficulty is when you're going against a more sophisticated AI.

I did not say that it WAS casual. I said, indirectly, that it was a core game which nintendo wanted to appeal to the casual audience, and more so than usual.

And cmon! It was pretty easy for a mario game. You'd think that it would have SOME kind of "casualness" in it.

My point is, just because Zelda Wii will be a "game which nintendo wants to appeal to the casual audience, doesn't mean it will be bad. I, for one, think it will be great! (Remember my first thread "hope for zelda wii" lol)

Quote:
New Zelda could even pass Ocarina of Time as the best Zelda.
This is entirely possible, since Super Mario Galaxy was given a higher rating than super mario 64, and that pattern could follow on for the Wii

Re: Info On The Next Zelda Game

If the next Zelda game is more casual than TP, I'm gonna commit seppuku. Honestely. The reason TP was so watered down was thanks to the casuals. Nintendo felt that adding lots of content would "confuse the target audience" (casuals). If it weren't for the casuals, TP would've lived up to the hype.

So if you're gonna accuse me of calling the casuals "stupid", I'm not. Nintendo has already done that for us.

That statement is very true. And seppuku? That would hurt! I like my tummy...

Well maybe they should have more difficult puzzles and enemies in Hard mode. While maybe Easy will have less puzzles and easier enemies. Maybe in Hard mode, maybe the Easy mode part of the dungeon will be sealed somehow meaning you have to get through the dungeon in a different way. The reverse would be true for those playing on Easy mode.

The Hard setting's path would be blocked off, forcing you to go down the easy way.

Of course then there is the AI. hard gets better AI then easy.

It would be a bit more work. I mean you are basicly making 3 dungeons for every 1 dungeon.

... Wait did any of that make sense? lol

Still I think it would essentially give everyone what they want. which is why difficulty settings are one of the best features in games. hardcore players can play in a hardcore setting while newbies can still enjoy the game.
