What type of Zelda game do you want?
I'm just curious on how evereyone else feels about his issue. I'd rather see a game with good graphics then a toonish game like PH and WW.
See the pole above:

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
Oh yes, the pole. Are you asking us to go fishing or something? =P
I agree. I want LOZ to go back to its old roots and have realistic graphics again. But that doesn't look like the case, it seems like the toon graphics will be staying like this for a very long time...... Besides that, I would like to see a LOZ game that is similar to LA, OoS and OoA... Ahh, the good ol' days....

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
I'm playing TP again, making sure I have all the side quests and all 100% complete... and I really need an other Zelda with that graphic feel. WW and PH are artistic and cool... but just not satisfying like OoT and TP were.
I liked the graphics in TP, the twilight world, and the lighting effects where very fantasy-ish I found. In short, I think I want fantasy like graphics, realistic in a sense, but still out of this world.

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
I'd really love to see the next zelda make full use of the wii's hardware, unlike TP

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
I find this thread really biased. How is a game with the artstyle of TP automatically ''A better Graphic game with more definition ''?
That's bull****. Properly done cell-shading looks as good as pseudo-realism. Don't get me wrong, I love TP, I think City in the Sky is the best Zelda dungeon ever, but The Wind Waker deserves more love. It's a fantastic game with particulary awesome graphics. Boss fights like Kalle Demos and dungeons like the Earth Temple I think are some of the best-looking scenes in game-history, even though they're more than 5 years old. And just look at Õkami. It's beautiful!! Though I don't like black linings in cell-shading, I love the use of all those colours and exentric forms. The next Zelda should be cell-shaded like tWW, but with more features. I know every enhancement form this generation on will just be details, but just think of tWW with some nice texture details and normal mapping. It only adds to the effect. And the cell-shading just looks so warm and lively! TP's graphics are still really good and creative, especially the Twilight, but I still pick tWW. Even if it only were to give the game the credit it deserves. To be a bit more objective, I think it really depends which setting they pick. If it'll be the steampunk that's been rumoured, 'realistic' style is probably better. If it has more of a dreamy, surrealistic setting, I think cell-shading would be awesome. Wind Waker FTW! ![]()

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
The kind of Zelda game I want is hard and challenging, it keeps the adventure feel intact as well as the mysterious and epic tone that the name Legend of Zelda carries with it, and it has an amazing, emotional and not-too-complicated story.
I think that would satisfy me the most, and it wouldn't matter if it's cel shaded or not.

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
I wouldn't mind having a cell-shaded Zelda game with mature themes, yet it is developed in a cell shading world that isn't cartoony at all.

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
I don't care really, although if the "realistic" graphics are like TP's, I'll take the cel-shaded.
Also, the cel-shaded graphics are as good as realistic graphics. It's all a matter of personal preference.

Wind Waker's art style was brilliant, the whole game felt alive and sprightly, though with it's more sombre moments, such as visiting Prince Komali after leaving Medli in the Earth temple. Twilight Princess also had a nice individual art style, and I think the word "realistic" is quite wrongly applied to it a lot of the time, just look at the more eccentric and quirky character designs seen in the Goron Elders as well as Rusl, Barnes and Mayer Bo to name just a few. Zelda and Link, on the other hand, were far too close to the "realistic" and more generic end of the spectrum than they should have been, as were Ilia, Ashei and Shad. So given that, I don't really mind what the art style is as long as it doesn't strive for realism, and has its own distinctive and quirky style rather than just a more lifelike rendering of standard Animé type design (such as the official artwork for OoT). Oh, and whilst I'm at it, words like "mature" and "epic" are far too overused in describing what people want from the new Zelda, and in actual fact, mean very little. |

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
i liked WW's style too and i liked tp's but the art style kind of corrisponds to the story does'nt it because tp's art style was in a realistic sense because it was a more serious zelda game and had alot of dark elements whereas WW's was really bright and vibrant due to the fact that it wasn't as serious as tp was. mainly because it had alot more fantasy in like the ghost ships and rito's for example so it all depends on the game story

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
The Wii doesn't have very good graphics so I chose cel-shaded. Plus I really liked WW, it's maybe my favorite.

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
Hm... "A better Graphic game with more definition"... Realistic graphics doesn't automatically equal better graphics. They're just different styles.
Anyway, I prefer the realistic style WAY more... it just gives it a more mature and epic feel. Hell if WW were a realistic graphic game, that would be THE game, for me. I hope Nintendo stops aiming too much at kids. |

![]() Seriously, epic reffers to ...? What exactly? Bigger? Longer? More intricate? More grandiose? And more mature!? Older characters? Sex and violence? Blood and gore? A complex narrative? C'mon, throw me a bone here. |

"Epic" is very overused I agree. But I think most people here know what we refer to when we say epic... it may be a little hard to explain but somehow everyone knows what we are referring to. Where I said epic I was referring to more grandiose and more serious. The cel shaded look just doesn't do this for me. |

Re: What type of Zelda game do you want?
Epic is Epic.
It's very opinionated... it's often based on the feeling something will give us. A feeling of vast aweinspiring greatness. When you get chills, because the story and the drama and the whole feel is sheer heroism, and majesty. It's almost poetry! (unofficial definition, but I did look it up) While I like the art style of cell-shaded, it's innovative and cool, I find OoT and TP styled graphics give the game an epic feel, for me.
